Though it may seem unusual for the USA Para Bobsled team to be in Alabama, we knew from the start it would be a perfect fit. ❄️ USA Bobsled/Skeleton

After two days of extensive performance assessments, nutrition consultations, educational sessions and more — all designed to help them optimize training and recovery — we asked the team to share their experiences at SSPC, as well as their journey to push for Para Bobsled’s inclusion in future Paralympics. Stay tuned for more content from this awesome week!

Huge congratulations to athlete Katie Verderber, who was named to the 2026 Paralympic Team for USA Curling!

Katie joined us at SSPC in May during one of our VMAA Camps, and her passion, work ethic and dedication to her sport were evident from the start. We know how hard she’s worked to reach this incredible milestone, and we couldn’t be prouder. We can't wait to cheer her on as she represents Team USA at MilanoCortina2026. Go Katie!

The 2026 Paralympic Team has been named! Congratulations to Matthew Thums, Oyuna Uranchimeg, Sean O’Neill, Dan Rose, and Katie Verderber who will represent Team USA in Cortina!

Our energy bites are an athlete favorite, so we're sharing the recipe! Shoutout to our intern Olivia for showing us how it's done! Get the full recipe below or visit lakeshore.org/nutritionlab for a PDF version. 😋

Energy Bites:
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (sub. sunflower butter)
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup honey (sub. maple syrup)
1 Tbsp flaxseeds (sub. chia seeds)
Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until well-mixed. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour (optional). Once chilled, roll into balls of about 1 inch. Keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
