The Angel Squad volunteer group that provides hope, comfort and compassionate care to Breast Cancer Patients & their families at the UAB Kirklin Clinic

The Angel Squad is a group of volunteers that are part of Volunteer Services at UAB Medicine. For more than a decade, the Angel Squad have dedicated themselves to providing hope, comfort and compassionate care to Breast Cancer Patients and their families and caregivers at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. Our goal is to provide individualized support for each patient at the Breast Health Center and the Mammography Clinic. Angels provide snacks and warm blankets to meet the patient’s physical needs, while at other times simply offering a listening ear, a warm smile, a kind word and simply sharing our love and hope as they travel this journey. In addition to patient support, we provide Breast Cancer Awareness in the community. All of the members of Angel Squad have seen family and friends struggle with Breast Cancer. Many of us are survivors and many of us received treatments at UAB. We all share the same love for our patients and the desire to help them and their families.

The Women’s Breast Health Fund wants to learn more about what people with breast cancer need and what help is already out there. We are working with a group called Allegro Partners to do a special study called a Community Needs Assessment. This study will help us find out what’s missing and how we can make things better.

It will ask about your thoughts and experiences with breast cancer support and services. Your answers will stay private and will help us understand what people need most.
