Another example for you. I helped a patient who visited the Emergency Room in a Florida hospital at the end of 2025. His amount due was $2,800 all deductible. I spoke with the right person (it took a few calls but finally got to someone with authority) and settled his bill for 50%. He paid the $1,400 to bring his account balance to $0. The hospital still made a large profit on the case.

It takes some patience, persistence and access to hospital financial data. But it can be done. ,

I know this group is all about saving money, and I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way — but saving on hospital/medical bills after you receive them can be achieved.
I recently (January 2026) helped a family member with an ER bill where the amount owed via coinsurance was $1,800. I ended up negotiating it down to $350. Savings of $1,450!
Most people don’t realize this is even an option, or where to start. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t — but when it does, the difference can be real.
