It was a great day at UAB for High School Students attending the Next Steps Fair. The Northeast Community YMCA’s Teen Leadership Team Leader, Mr. Eric, was present to share opportunities around college and career exploration, leadership and mentoring, and workforce development. Mr Eric was one of several representatives from our community sharing resources and opportunities with students. It takes a village!

Introducing the Y it Matters 5K, Fun Run + Couch to 5k! Benefitting our friends at the Downtown Youth Center - YMCA of Greater Birmingham

Who: YOU 🫵🏾
What: Y it Matters 5k, Fun Run + Couch to 5k🏃🏾‍♂️
When: Bright and early Saturday December 13, 2025 🎄
Where: The starting line will be on 1st Avenue South between Regions Field and Railroad Park. Then there will be an after party at Good People Brewing Company! 🏁
Why: Proceeds will benefit families we serve each year so that we are able to continue to provide services regardless of the ability to pay ❤️

YMCA of Greater Birmingham recently opened its newly renovated and expanded Northeast YMCA branch in the Roebuck community of the city.

📢Volunteer call-out!

We are seeking 8-10 volunteers to participate in an upcoming vidoe shoot at the Northeast YMCA (628 Joseph Hollis Drive).

-Wednesday, September 24
-10AM-2PM (shorter shifts available)
-Video shoot is in partnership with the Northeast Community YMCA's architect CCR Architecture & Interiors. CCR will be filming to highlight the building's amentities and service to the community.

Actors/Actresses will participate in various staged shots such as walking, moving through the building's unique spaces, shooting basketball, walking on the track, gathering communal spaces or using EGYM.

Upon signing up, you will be emailed a short overview of what to expect, what to wear, etc.
