IN CELEBRATION of Transgender Flag Day

Today, August 19th, we honor Transgender Flag Day!
On this day in 1999, trans veteran Monica Helms created the blue, pink, and white flag that has become a powerful symbol of the transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive community. This flag is more than fabric ; it represents visibility, safety, and belonging for trans people everywhere.

At TAKE Resource Center, we’re proud to celebrate this day and uplift the legacy of trans resilience and leadership. Our drop-in space, especially for Black and Brown trans folks, is rooted in building community and meeting people where they are. Through our holistic programs, we provide:
✨ Psychosocial group therapy
✨ Safe drop-in space
✨ Transportation support
✨ Crisis assistance funds
✨ Temporary housing through our Gloria’s Safe Haven Program
✨ Empowerment and educational retreats
✨ Leadership development through the Monica Roberts Freedom School

Join us in celebrating Transgender Flag Day by showing up, supporting, and giving back to the first Trans drop-in community center that continues to fight for justice, visibility, and joy.

The wait is finally over! 🎉 We are proud to announce TAKE Resource Center’s 12th National Transgender Awareness Week Ambassador 2025 Jasmine Bonet Smith ! She will join us November 14–21, 2025 in Birmingham, AL, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to the Magical City. Please add her on Facebook and help us celebrate this amazing milestone in her life! 💜If you are able, we also encourage you to support Jasmine’s journey as she prepares to compete for Miss Continental this Labor Day weekend in Chicago, Illinois. Any financial contributions toward her quest would be greatly appreciated. 🙌

Zero HIV Stigma Day is observed annually on July 21st to raise awareness about HIV stigma and promote efforts to end it. It's a day to unite people, communities, and countries in the fight against HIV-related stigma. The day also serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to address stigma as part of the broader effort to end the HIV epidemic.
