I have heard a lot of people say that certain people mess up their taxes... My questions are what information are you giving, Is it legal, are your dependents really your dependents and so on!!! At the end of the conversation, We both realize that NO YOU are messing up your own TAXES!!

New federal law may affect some refunds filed in early 2017. The Internal Revenue Service has announced initial plans for processing tax returns involving the Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit during the opening weeks of the 2017 filing season. This action is driven by the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 (PATH Act) that was enacted Dec. 18, 2015, and made several changes to the tax law to benefit taxpayers and their families.

We know that identity theft is a frustrating process for victims, and we are taking aggressive steps to stop fraudulent returns before they are processed. We understand victims want to know more about the information used on the fraudulent returns using their Social Security number. A victim of identity theft or a person authorized to obtain the identity theft victim’s tax information may request a redacted copy (one with some information blacked-out) of a fraudulent return that was filed and accepted by the IRS using the identity theft victim’s name and SSN.
