Love this! I often say that I wasn't born tough but that life made me this way. I feel the obstacles and challenges we are presented with really shape us into the people we are. Every obstacle has an opportunity to be a learning experience as well. It is all about perspective!

"Strong people aren't simply born. They are made by the storms they walk through."

As many of you know, October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month! That means for the rest of the month we can use our voices and spread awareness by sharing our symptoms, stories, struggles, triumphs, and more. Over the years, Dysautonomia has become increasingly more recognized; however, it still has a long way to go. Let's stop the stigma and raise our voices! The time for recognition has come!

Great read! It is heartbreaking to defend how you feel. When will the world change?!

Great read! It is heartbreaking to defend how you feel. When will the world change?!

I often mourn the person I used to be. I was an athlete. I played soccer and lifted weights, ran races and set records. I had long, thick hair and I could stay awake for 12 hours straight. I did no…

Although we would love to treat everyone, we also know that situations and circumstances arise that require seeking care locally. Many people are unaware of the small (but growing) network of Dysautonomia specialists. This directory helps to locate those who may be in your area. Everyone deserves to receive proper treatment, as well as a proper diagnosis. Do any of you know an individual with symptoms that needs a physician?!

DSN's Healthcare Provider Directory was compiled by DSNs patient recommendations, along with the assistance of allied groups. does not officially endorse any providers on this list, but it can be a usefull resource for finding a new provider. http://bit.ly/DSNProviders

But really? Where did the time go?!

I am sure many of you would agree that 2020 has been a year from you know what... It seems like it has been one thing after another. Unfortunately, because of this, I have not been able to provide as much content over the last few months and apologize deeply.

I have remained blessed enough to be considered essential during times that many were not; however, working during COVID has not been an easy feat. I am hopeful that things improve and I will be able to be more engaged as I once was. Again, I am sorry about any distance!

I do want to know about all of your experiences during the last few months. How have things been? Are each of you okay? Please let me know!

Can I get an amen?!?!?! An achievement does not have to be great to feel impossible. Some days, an achievement may be simply getting out of bed. It may not seem great and may feel completely impossible. A challenge is a challenge, just like an achievement is an achievement.

Don't underestimate your feats. Rejoice in the little things. Be proud of you. You are your biggest supporter and worst enemy. So if you get out of bed, pat yourself on the back. You just defied gravity.

"Every great achievement was once considered impossible."

How I feel when I log on with the intent of posting something wonderful.... Just kidding. I forget what I want to say 99% of the time... I promise when I stare off, I am just collecting thoughts!

Sometimes it be like that.... But I am always tinkled pink when patients have everything we need. I know it can be difficult to act as a historian sometimes, but lets be real... Sometimes you may feel as if you are tossed around more than a hot potato, so keeping pertinent info helps quite a bit. Luckily, since most records are electronic now it is much much easier to keep up with. Can't imagine how it'll be in ten years!

OH, the good ole change in position... Is it not insane how many cartoons we can relate to? In terms of symptoms... I have seen so many animations that seem relatable... Does not even make sense or is the Dysautonomia talking? I'll just stay right here and let my heart rate decide 😆

I have such a love-hate relationship with Google... Sometimes it can reassure me that I am not crazy by confirming some symptoms; however, it may also make me feel as if I am 6 years past death and running on fumes... I have found that instead of searching for symptoms, I now search for forums or blogs for people who have similar symptoms. This helps me to recognize/realize I am not alone while also learning how others manage these symptoms. It is tough. Especially if you are turned away or considered normal, although you are symptomatic... What all do you do?

Would it not be nice to be able to find replacement parts for our bodies? Not in a cynical way... But as in a 20,000 mile tune up kind of way... I know there are many times in which I could benefit from a little WD-40 or a nice oil change... Luckily, I have learned to consider my body like a good, ole faithful Honda. Might be a little beat up and make funny noises, but I will ride on until the end.
