Congratulations to our recent IMPACT Award winner, Amanda Phillips, PT & OT! Her nomination read, in part:

"Amanda sees a patient with limited joint mobility. When he was younger, he saw another child in our clinic ride a bike, and said, “I have to do that too”. Amanda was able to modify one of our adaptive tricycles to work for him and partnered with a local agency, Iron City Trykes, in getting him a bike at home, and then a second when he had outgrown the first.

The larger bike was more complicated, so Amanda spent extra time making his application very detailed. She went on her own time to the office to help fit him and suggest adjustments to customize the bike.

By the end of the bike fitting, he was pedaling the bike on his own and was challenging everyone present to a race. He was so excited and his smile was amazing! Now he can enjoy an activity that other kids his age and his siblings are able to do."

Today is ! Meet Ara Walker👋

From her bright smile, you’d never guess Ara lives with inferior vena cava atresia (IVCA)—a rare condition linked to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) that nearly changed everything for her in 2020. After a sudden leg swelling revealed a massive blood clot, Ara faced multiple diagnoses, hospital stays, and surgeries. But through it all, she’s stayed optimistic and determined.

Now a college student balancing work and life, Ara says it best:
“I’m just an average college student—and I’m more than happy to be an average college student!”

Congratulations to Cinnamon Banks, 10H, for receiving the DAISY Nurse Leader Award!

"When I think about the epitome of leadership, I think about Cinnamon Banks. Over the past few years, I have had the chance to watch her lead our unit. The impact she has had on this unit is truly significant... So often, we think of leaders as figureheads, the ones with the loudest voices or most followers. But then there are people like Cinnamon, coming in on night shift when no one else is here to notice, caring deeply for her staff and modeling what it looks like to lead well. I think that is why she is so deserving and worthy of the Daisy Leader Award."
