Let's Learn About Support for Postpartum Depression/Anxiety with Our Newest Provider
Tori Weinand, DNP, FNP-BC seeks to provide compassionate care that works with a mother’s body, not against it.
Postpartum depression isn’t just sadness. After birth, estrogen and progesterone, hormones that were sky-high during pregnancy plummet in a matter of days. Those hormones don’t just regulate fertility…they directly interact with the brain’s calming system (the GABA pathway).
When mothers crash and sleep deprivation sets in, even the strongest, healthiest women can feel:
 - Irritable or explosive
 - Overwhelmed by small decisions
 - Mentally checked out
 - Terrified something bad will happen
 - Crushed by guilt and shame
 - Numb and disconnected
 - Like they’re “not themselves”
And because many moms are still going through the motions, feeding the baby, showing up for appointments, smiling when they have to, they suffer in silence.
Tori provides whole-mother care, supporting brain, body, hormones, nervous system, sleep, stress, and the support system around her.
She uses a personalized, layered approach to postpartum recovery, focusing on:
 - Re-nourishing the body
 - Calming the nervous system
 - Evaluating thyroid function: postpartum thyroiditis is common and often mimics PPD
 - Progesterone support when indicated: Some options include oral, vaginal, or cream.
 - When needed, she uses NaProTechnology-guided IM (intramuscular) progesterone, a level of specialized hormonal care rarely offered in traditional postpartum settings.
 - Other medications when it’s the right next step
All recommendations honor breastfeeding goals and personal values, always without judgment.
The truth is: Postpartum depression may be common, but it is not normal. Healing happens when a mother feels safe, supported, and truly understood.
