North Dakota’s 28 Local Public Health Units Unite to Celebrate National Public Health Week
BISMARCK, N.D. – In celebration of National Public Health Week, April 6–12, 2026, all 28 local public health units across North Dakota are joining together to recognize the important role public health plays in creating healthier communities statewide.
Governor Kelly Armstrong has officially proclaimed April 6–12, 2026, as Public Health Week in North Dakota, recognizing the important contributions of public health in protecting and improving the health of residents across the state.
This year’s National Public Health Week theme, “Ready. Set. Action!” highlights how public health improves daily life, safeguards families, expands life expectancy, and strengthens communities. From disease prevention and health education to emergency preparedness, environmental health, maternal and child health, and chronic disease prevention, public health touches the lives of North Dakotans every day.
As part of the week, North Dakota local public health units are promoting Stroll N Roll North Dakota on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, a statewide effort encouraging residents to get moving in a way that works for them. Community members are invited to participate by taking a walk, rolling, spending time outdoors, or engaging in physical activity at their own pace and in their own communities.
