Did you know scoliosis can develop in adulthood?

Degenerative scoliosis is a type of adult scoliosis that develops later in life due to age-related changes in the spine. As the spine becomes more unbalanced and unstable, symptoms like pain, posture changes, and reduced mobility can appear, and often get worse over time.

Common signs may include:
✅ Lower back pain
✅ Leaning forward or to one side
✅ Loss of height
✅ Balance or walking difficulties

The good news?
It’s never too late to take action. A proactive approach can help with:

✔️ Pain management
✔️ Better posture & spinal stability
✔️ Lower fall risk
✔️ Improved daily movement & quality of life

At ScoliCare, we combine:

💪 ScoliBalance® physiotherapy scoliosis-specific exercises to improve muscular strength and support
🦴 ScoliBrace® to provide stability and help manage spinal imbalance

Every adult spine is different, and so is every care plan. We’re here to help you understand your options and move with confidence. 💙

🦵 Leg Length Discrepancy: Causes, Effects & Solutions

Did you know even a small difference in leg length can affect your posture, balance, and overall movement?
A leg length discrepancy (LLD) occurs when one leg is shorter than the other, sometimes due to bone structure, injury, or misalignment elsewhere in the body. This imbalance can impact the spine, hips, and gait, leading to discomfort or pain over time.

At ScoliCare, we take a holistic approach to identify the underlying cause (whether structural or functional), using precise X-ray measurements to ensure accurate assessment, and create a treatment plan focused on restoring symmetry, balance, and healthy movement.

Parents know their kids best, and sometimes, you can spot small things others might miss: a shoulder that sits higher, a hip that looks uneven, or a visible curve when they bend forward. 👀

These could be early signs of scoliosis, which affects around 5% of children and teens. The good news? Early detection can make a huge difference, improving treatment success and long-term posture health.

At ScoliCare, we make spine checks simple, gentle, and reassuring, designed with kids (and parents!) in mind, helping families get clarity and confidence about their child’s posture. 🙌

❓ When does scoliosis stop progressing?
It’s a common question, and the truth is more complex than most people think.

👩‍⚕️ The most common type, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, is usually diagnosed between ages 10–18. During this stage, growth spurts can cause curves to progress rapidly. That’s why early detection and proactive treatment are so important.

📈 But scoliosis doesn’t simply “stop” once growth ends. In adulthood, progression often slows, but it can continue, especially when age-related spinal degeneration becomes a factor. Many adults experience pain as their main symptom, which makes ongoing monitoring and care crucial.

✅ The good news? With a customised treatment plan, scoliosis can be effectively managed at any age. Early treatment often leads to better outcomes, but even adults can benefit from proactive care.

💡 Scoliosis is progressive, but it doesn’t have to control the future of your spine health.

Can you still play sports with scoliosis? Absolutely YES! ✅

A scoliosis diagnosis doesn’t mean sidelining your ambitions. With the right approach, athletes can keep training, competing, and excelling.

Here’s what sets us apart:
🔹 ScoliBalance® exercises: A scoliosis-specific exercise program targeting the 3D features of scoliosis to improve spinal alignment.
🔹 ScoliBrace® (when needed): Custom-designed brace that gently realigns the spine during growth, allowing continued athletic activity.
🔹 Regular monitoring: Tracks scoliosis progression for safe training.
🔹 Sport-specific adjustments: Ensures spinal support with every move.

At ScoliCare, our clinicians collaborate with athletes, families, and coaches to tailor training and maintain progress. 💪 Scoliosis is just a reason to train smarter, not to quit what you love!

The earlier scoliosis is detected, the more treatment options are available, and the less invasive they need to be.

👧 In growing children and teens, scoliosis can progress quickly, but when identified early, we can often manage it with custom bracing and scoliosis-specific exercise programs.

Here’s why early detection is key for treatment:

🔹 Scoliosis often develops without pain and can go unnoticed during growth spurts.
🔹 If caught early, non-surgical treatments like bracing or scoliosis-specific rehab can stop the curve from progressing.
🔹 Delayed diagnosis may limit treatment options and increase the chance of needing surgery later on.

Early action leads to better outcomes. 🙌
