Growing your own food can be a gratifying and enjoyable experience that is good for our health and the environment. ππ±π
We want to maintain things as healthy and natural as possible when we develop a garden full of plants that our families and we will eat. π± Gardens are their own little worlds, and plants are living beings that need a lot of upkeep and care to grow. This implies that in order to make our gardens successful, we will have to overcome some naturally occurring challenges.
π’ Fungus, weeds, and insects are some of the most frequent issues we deal with when attempting to maintain our plants healthy and developing. Plant tissues can be killed by fungus when it attacks the leaves of a plant. Numerous other plant diseases that can completely devastate gardens can develop as a result of widespread fungal infections.
In any garden, weeds are a common annoyance. They may suffocate the roots of our plants and draw vital nutrients from the soil.
π’ Another frequent problem we could experience is unwanted garden pests. Our plants can suffer damage from seemingly tiny insects, making it difficult to maintain their health and achieve a good yield.
πΈ While we want to keep harmful pests away from our gardens, some insects are beneficial to have around. Pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, are very important to garden health and yielding a good crop.
π³ Pesticides and harsh chemical treatments seem to be the most accessible solution to these gardening problems. π³ However, as plants and soil absorb everything, they are also absorbing poisons and unidentified substances. Essential oils can be an excellent tool for maintaining healthy gardens without the use of pesticides and chemicals.
ππ Numerous oils have various qualities that might support the natural upkeep and maintenance of our gardens.
Here are some of the best essential oils to use in the garden:
π± Clove Essential Oil is the perfect multipurpose oil for use in the garden. It can be used to kill unwanted weeds, repel harmful insects, and help control mold and fungus on the soil and plants.
π± Rosemary Essential Oil works to repel pest insects such as ants, aphids, bean beetles, and cabbage moths and can even repel the insect larvae as well. Rosemary can also help to attract pollinating butterflies to the garden.
π± Cinnamon Essential Oil is a great natural way to get rid of weeds while also deterring common garden pests like ants, gnats, and snails.
π± Peppermint Essential Oil has a scent that repels garden pests like aphids as well as many types of flies and beetles. Peppermint also tends to repel spiders, which is helpful for family gardens where we may have little helpers.
π± Lavender and Orange Essential Oil have a sweet aroma that can draw both bees and butterflies to the garden for natural pollination.
π± Tea Tree Essential Oil is great for getting rid of fungus on plants and fungal diseases such as blight in tomato plants and powdery mildew on squash and cucumber leaves. Tea tree oil can make plants more sensitive to the sun and burning so be sure to treat in the morning or evenings and spray plants lightly.
π± Oregano Essential Oil can combat fungus on plants while also repelling pests such as carrot flies, greenflies, and mosquitos.
Our organic gardens at Fuller Life Bali are infused with essential oils! One can really feel the frequencies of YL essential oils as we walk towards the dining area, where our βfarm-to-tableβ concept never disappoints. πππ¦
