Happy MM Feast Day! This is one of my favorite passages by Andrew Harvey 💕
“The yoga of the Mother is nothing if not a yoga of love.”
“The yoga of the Mother has that understanding of detachment and timeless freedom as its foundation, but takes a much more profound, much wilder, deeper, and more poignant risk—the risk of active divine love. The Mother’s yoga comes down from transcendence into immanence, down from the safety of detachment into the misery and glory of love. Down from mystical illumination into heart-illumined action that is prepared to risk defeat, derision, and all kinds of desolation as events turn, because it can taste the Mother, the Beloved, in everything—even horror. So the yoga of the Mother goes much deeper than the patriarchal ones, because instead of banning matter, it seeks to transfigure it from within. Instead of exiling death, it seeks to die again and again into fuller and more passionate life. Instead of trying to escape time at any cost, it takes time and kisses it on the lips and accepts all its conditions and sufferings, all its ordeals just as they are—in love, for love, as love.”
