As we close this year, we honor the resilience of our community in the wake of Hurricane Helene. The storm brought challenges but also revealed our strength and unity. This season may bring a mix of emotions—grief, gratitude, and hope. All are valid. Healing takes time, and as we enter a new year, we encourage you to prioritize your well-being. Together, we can rebuild not just homes but hearts. Let this new chapter remind us that growth can emerge from adversity.
We invite you to read and engage with a reflection on grief written by BMCC counselor Melissa Raines, LMHCA. We know that everyone in our community, both near and far, has been affected by Hurricane Helene and we hope this reflection can be our gift to you. We are holding space for you, your family, your neighbors, and your friends to grieve in this moment. As Melissa shares, there is beauty and wisdom in collectively sharing grief and we take solace in knowing that the communities we serve and call home are unafraid to support the mental health of their neighbors.
