Life’s a Journey
Hi, I am Malynda, military spouse and mom to two amazing little beings. In my free time, I am also a fitness professional with an array of experience. Fitness has always been a driving force in my life. My experience working with military soldiers on performance enhancement lead me to pursing an American College of Sports Medicine Personal Training Certification and training to become a yoga teacher. I enjoyed both the physical and mental reward yoga brought to me and my students. After finishing my Bachelors in Exercise Science, I worked with all fitness levels and ages. I bounced between yoga training, TRX training, and strength and conditioning while also exploring CrossFit to meet the needs of my clients and discover my career path.
While I was pregnant with my daughter, I finished my Masters in Exercise Science and Health Promotion where I focused on pre/postnatal exercise. I quickly realized all the education in the world couldn't fully prepare me for the seasons of motherhood or the stages of fitness I was experiencing. I continued my pre/postpartum training by becoming an AFPA certified Pre and Post Natal Fitness Specialist. My next enlightenment in my education was after my son was born. I went to physical therapy and was introduced to Postural Restoration (PRI). After being exposed to this treatment approach, I knew it was the missing link not only in my fitness journey but also my clients'. I met an amazing and inspiring mother and therapist who I now call friend. She inspired me and helped me through one of the most challenging fitness stages I have yet to experience. I started taking Postural Restoration courses to continue learning and applying the concepts. I have also taken Dr. Sarah Duvall’s Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist course which helped gain a global fitness prospective on the postpartum client. My most recent education was a pelvic floor yoga teacher certification which I learned even more applications of breathing and pelvic floor work. One shared concept all these trainings have instilled in me is the power of breath. The foundation for life is breath, and if you want to enhance movement, you have to breathe efficiently.
Being a mother has pushed me out of my comfort zone and has challenged my perspective on fitness and has introduced more beauty in life. No matter your goals or the place you are in life, fitness is a journey to self awareness. Let me help you reach the next beautiful stage in your journey.
