Join us for Community Kirtan, every 4th Friday, beginning February 27th!

Meet the musicians who will be sharing their gifts with us 🎶

Foster Braden is a multi-instrumentalist and percussionist from Asheville, North Carolina. Rooted in rhythm and guided by a love of community, song, and devotional music, Foster approaches music as a living practice and a form of service.

Jennifer Yates is a 500-hour certified yoga instructor whose life and teaching are rooted in service, devotion, and presence. A regular kirtan practitioner and devoted singer, Jennifer also draws inspiration from early vocal jazz, bringing a timeless sense of phrasing, feeling, and heart into her voice.

Jordan Smith grew up in a musical family, beginning with piano and guided early on by a deep love of singing. While music was always central to her life, her healing path deepened through yoga, where she was introduced to kirtan, sound baths, breathwork, and chanting. She continues to immerse herself in the healing and devotional traditions of mantra and medicine songs, exploring sound as a pathway to connection, presence, and shared transformation.

Paul Gaeta is a musician, sound healer, and devotional chant leader with over two decades of experience guiding people into states of presence through sound. His kirtan offerings blend traditional mantra, harmonium, voice and strings, creating a grounded and welcoming space for both seasoned practitioners and newcomers alike.

Collectively, these facilitators are honored to bring their gifts of devotional chanting to The Yoga Center of Black Mountain. Participants can expect a gentle, inclusive space where all are welcome to open their voices and share in collective sound.

Just a small glimpse of the goodness that unfolded at the Yoga Center yesterday 🤍
oasis.yoga and guided us through a deeply nourishing, nervous-system-soothing afternoon: restorative yoga, sound healing with ALL the instruments, and a beautiful closing with Kirtan.

With so much heaviness and harm in the world right now, we feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to offer spaces like this for our community. We may not be able to change everything, but we can make a difference right here, today, in the lives of those we gather with.

Moments of rest and connection help recharge our hearts so we can keep showing up, spreading love, kindness, and care in all the days ahead. 🕊️ 💫 🙏🏼

We are honored to bring Kirtan to the Black Mountain community, every 4th Friday, beginning February 27th!

Kirtan is an ancient practice from the Bhakti (devotional) yoga tradition of India, shared for thousands of years as a way to awaken the heart through sound.

🎵 Community Kirtan
🗓 Friday, February 27, 2026
⏰ 6:30–8:00pm
💛 Sliding Scale $15–$30

In a simple call-and-response format, a chant is offered by the Wallah (leader) and gently echoed by the group, supported by live music and rhythm. As the mind settles into repetition, something softer and more spacious can emerge.

This is not a performance or a concert, but a shared community experience rooted in presence and connection. You do not need to know the words, understand the meanings, or even feel comfortable singing. You’re invited to participate in whatever way feels right: singing or humming, listening quietly, meditating, or resting and letting the sound move through you.

🎶 🙏🏼 🎶
We’ll be sharing more about the musicians in the weeks to come. For now, we’re honored to introduce:

✨ Paul Gaeta
✨ Foster Braden
✨ Jennifer Yates
✨ Jordan Smith

Stay tuned as we share more about the gifts they’ll bring to our community.

This gathering is offered as a space of rebirth, devotion, and shared humanity — where tradition meets the present moment and voices gather in connection. All are welcome.

💛 Sliding Scale Options
$15 — Community Supported
$20 — Suggested Minimum
$25 — Support Others
$30 — Extra Love & Gratitude

Preregistration is recommended. Link in bio.

Join us for an Online Class 🤍

The safety of our community is always our top priority. With the recent storms keeping us at home, we’re offering a few online classes until we know we can travel to the studio safely.

We love practicing together in person, but since that’s not an option right now, we can still gather—virtually.

❄️ Join us for our first livestream class:
Sunday, 2/1 at 5:00pm
Online | Gentle Flow + Restore
with via Zoom

How it works:
• Register through the online schedule on our website, using your membership, class package, or drop-in. 🔗 Link in bio
• Download the Zoom app ahead of time
• You’ll receive a Zoom link via email 20 minutes before class
• Follow the link to log in at least 5 minutes early
• All participants will be muted once class begins, removing noise distractions
• You’re welcome to keep your video on or off - whatever feels best for you

Don’t worry if you don’t have yoga props at home - we are mindful of that! Just come as you are. Pets always welcome 🐈 🐶 🐈‍⬛

We’re continuing to monitor the weather and will share updates about Monday’s classes soon. If a class moves online, it will be clearly noted on the Mindbody schedule in the class title.

Until we can gather again in the studio, roll out your mat at home and join us online. We can’t wait to practice with you.

Did you know yoga is more than postures?
Asana is just one of the eight limbs of yoga. The Yamas and Niyamas, the first two limbs, offer timeless guidance to support us as we move through our lives, with others and ourselves, with awareness, integrity, and care.

Join Mary Carroll Dodd for a 10-week yoga series inviting you to explore one Yama or Niyama each week. We’ll weave together movement, breath, and reflection to strengthen both body and mind.

Each class includes:
• mindful breathwork
• a steady, accessible Strong + Slow Flow
• teaching on a weekly Yama or Niyama

📖 Plus, you’ll receive a weekly reflection email to deepen your understanding and support your practice beyond the mat.

The New Year is a beautiful time to turn inward—cultivating presence, curiosity, and a more wholehearted way of living.

Set your intention for the year ahead and give it space to take root.

Join us for a nourishing afternoon that begins with a gentle restorative yoga practice to help settle the body, quiet the mind, and open space for clarity. From there, we’ll explore how vision boards work—both practically and neurologically—and reflect on what you truly want to call in for 2026.

📍 Hosted by
🗓️ Sunday, January 18, 2026

This workshop is led by Katie Hay, who has been creating vision boards for over 15 years and has guided this playshop for the past decade. You’re welcome to bring vision boards from previous years to reflect on and share.

Please pre-register so we can prepare the right amount of supplies for you. Come create, reflect, and set intentions in community.

✨Meet Sara Sterley ✨

Sara is a writer, gardener, cook, tree-hugger, and, in her words, a living-seasonally evangelist. Her teaching style is grounded in the wisdom of nature and seasonal rhythms, encouraging intuitive movement and deep rest.

She has a particular love for the practice of yin yoga, where stillness, long holds, and quiet create space to soften and reconnect with your truest self.

Join Sara for Seasonal Restorative + Yin
Thursdays • 10:30am

Guided by the rhythms of the season drawn from the natural world, this class offers space to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with yourself.

Through fully supported, restful postures, stillness, and unhurried pacing, foundational restorative yoga principles are paired with the qualities of yin—patience, deep listening, and ease. Rather than focusing on stretch or effort, the practice emphasizes nourishment and attunement, allowing the nervous system to soften and settle.

🌿 You can also join this Sunday, January 11 at 2pm for Ritual Making: A Workshop. You’ll enjoy a quiet yin practice and explore ritual as a way to honor what matters most in the year ahead. Create rhythms of meaning, not pressure. Follow link in bio to learn more🌿
