West Nile Virus is a mosquito-borne disease that most commonly occurs in Wisconsin during August and September. The illness can range from mild to severe.

To reduce your risk of infection, take the following steps to prevent mosquito bites:

1. Use bug spray
2. Wear loose-fitting clothing that covers your skin
3. Check that window and door screens are intact and free of holes
4. Get rid of standing water around your home, as it can attract mosquitoes
