Genealogy Classes in October

I will teach a genealogy class at the Radford Public Library on October 17 at 12:00 (noon). The class will be on using Probate Records. There is no fee for this class.

The final class of the month will be held on October 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum (4 E. Main St., Christiansburg). The class will be on Organizing Your Genealogy Research. Fee: $10

Most people are familiar with the population schedule of the United States census that is taken every ten years. These censuses include information about family members, occupations, and other information. This class will teach you how to locate and use non-population census schedules in your research including: Mortality schedules, Slave schedules, Agriculture schedules, Products of Industry schedules, Social Statistics schedules, and the 1890 Veterans schedule.
