💛 Volunteer Spotlight 💛

For the past year and a half, Virginia Tech students Mily Baxter and Allie Barksdale have faithfully spent their Friday afternoons at Showalter Center painting nails, sharing stories, and building meaningful friendships with our residents.

“I went to the head of the sociology department at VT to get my class moved so I could come to our weekly manicures,” Mily shared.

“The memories I have made at Warm Hearth are lifelong and I’ll cherish them forever,” added Allie.

Their commitment, kindness, and heart for service remind us what community is all about. We are so grateful for these two incredible volunteers. 💛

🌟 Our Stars Are Out of This World! 🌟

Yesterday we celebrated the incredible team members who were recognized as Star of the Month throughout the past year at our Out of This World STAR Program Luncheon. Each month, employees from different departments are nominated by their peers for going above and beyond, and this luncheon is our chance to celebrate their hard work and dedication together.

Congratulations to all of our STAR employees! Your commitment, teamwork, and positivity truly make a difference every day.

To every member of our team—thank you. We see the effort you put in, and we appreciate all that you do to make our community such a special place.

If you see someone doing something out of this world, don’t forget to fill out a STAR card and nominate them for recognition. A simple nomination can go a long way in celebrating the amazing work happening around us every day.

Here’s to another incredible year with our team. We couldn’t do it without you! ⭐🚀

☘️ Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

We kicked off the celebration a little early yesterday with our Dinner & a Jig event, and what a wonderful evening it was! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make it such a great turnout.

Guests enjoyed a delicious Irish-inspired dinner catered by Village Gourmet featuring a pickled beet salad with fresh greens, classic corned beef and cabbage, boiled red potatoes with cream, butter and chives, and steamed carrots. To top it all off, dessert was a Bailey’s Irish Cream bread pudding that was honestly insanely good.

The evening was made even more special by the rich folk sound of Simple Gifts of the Blue Ridge, who performed traditional Irish and classic folk favorites that had the whole room feeling festive.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate. Even though we started the festivities early, we wish you all a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀

Mindful Monday 🧠

What looks like a simple table quickly turns into something magical.

At The Arbor Memory Care Residence, residents gather around the Tovertafel (“Magic Table”), where light-based games invite them to pop bubbles, move fish, and sweep leaves with a wave of their hands.

Within moments, the room fills with laughter, movement, and shared moments of connection.

In today’s video, Danielle Snuffer, Life Enrichment Director, shares how this innovative tool brings joy and meaningful engagement to residents living with dementia.

If you’re exploring memory care options for someone you love, our team is here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Great conversations and a wonderful turnout at yesterday’s Connection Series event: Planning with Purpose – Smart Ways to Support What Matters Most.

Community members joined us for an engaging and informative session focused on practical financial and estate planning tools that can help ensure your wishes are honored, provide peace of mind for loved ones, and support the causes that matter most to you. Thoughtful planning today can make a lasting impact tomorrow. 💙

A special thank you to our speakers, Trevor Gray and Ray Jiudici, volunteer members of the Warm Hearth Foundation’s Planned Giving Committee, who generously shared their expertise and welcomed thoughtful questions from attendees. Trevor, a partner and financial advisor with Kingsview Partners, and Ray, Vice President of Trust and Wealth Management with National Bank here in Blacksburg, helped make the session both informative and empowering.

We’re grateful for the knowledge shared, the meaningful discussion, and everyone who joined us to learn more about planning with purpose. ✨
