🎩🌸 What a day at our Kentucky Derby Celebration! 🐎🥂

This past Friday, we kicked off Derby weekend in true Southern style with an incredible turnout and even better company. From fabulous chapeaus to dashing frocks, our residents and guests truly showed up in style—bringing the spirit of the Longines Kentucky Oaks to life right here at Warm Hearth Village.

Guests enjoyed an elevated tea social featuring soup, tea sandwiches, petite sweets, scones with jam and clotted cream, and of course, a complimentary mint julep 🍃🥂. It was a beautiful afternoon of sipping, snacking, and celebrating together.

We also crowned winners for Most Unique, Most Dapper, and Most Colossal Hat/Fascinator 👒🏆—with winners receiving a gift certificate and a branded Huckleberry Café cup!

The fashion, the energy, and the sense of community made this an event to remember. Thank you to everyone who joined us—you truly made it special, and you all looked amazing! 💐

We’re already looking forward to doing it again next year… stay tuned! 🎉🐎

✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us today for another meaningful installment of our Connection Series featuring Dennis Kitts-- Introducing the New River Ordnance Plant: Dublin’s Bagging Plant.

With his signature storytelling and deep historical knowledge, Dennis brought to life the people, challenges, and triumphs surrounding the construction of the New River Ordnance Plant, which broke ground in February 1941 and went on to employ thousands while playing a vital role in wartime production, innovation, and the shaping of our region. His discussion also explored the plant’s connection to the years leading into the Korean conflict, followed by a thoughtful Q&A with attendees.

We are so grateful to Dennis for continuing to share this important history through our series and for returning with this compelling Part II👏

Thank you as well to all who came out, including members of the public and our community, for making these conversations so special. Your engagement helps keep these stories alive!

🥗 Andrea’s Tip of the Day

This spring, try growing your own food—it’s one of the simplest ways to support your health.

Fresh herbs, tomatoes, and leafy greens are not only easy to grow, they’re packed with nutrients and flavor. Even a small container garden can make a big difference in what ends up on your plate.

From a nutrition perspective, gardening does more than provide fresh food—it encourages daily movement, reduces stress, and helps build a stronger connection to what you eat.

You don’t need a large space or a green thumb to get started—just a sunny spot and a willingness to try.

Start small, keep it simple, and enjoy the process. 🌱

🙌💙 A huge thank you to Delta Sigma Pi at Virginia Tech for sharing their time and talents with Warm Hearth Village this Sunday!

This business co-ed fraternity showed true community spirit by spending their afternoon assisting residents with light cleaning, yard work, organizing, and more. 🏡🌿

We were so grateful for the wonderful group of students who arrived ready to serve, connect, and get to know our residents. Their kindness and energy made a meaningful impact, and we are thankful for students who choose to be part of our community.

👏 A special thank you to Ava Famosa for serving as our liaison and helping organize this wonderful day of service!

Together, these moments of connection remind us how strong community can be. 💙

🧠 Mindful Monday: The BEST Exercise for Your Brain? 💃🕺

What if one of the most powerful ways to support your brain… doesn’t feel like exercise at all?

✨ It’s dancing.

Studies show that activities like dancing are especially powerful for brain health because they challenge so many things at once—memory, coordination, rhythm, quick thinking—and social connection.

And that connection matters. Staying socially engaged is one of the most important ways to support both cognitive health and emotional wellbeing.

🎶 It’s movement + music + connection… all working together.

Try this:
Grab a partner, learn a new dance, or join a class this week. Even a few minutes of movement and laughter can make a meaningful difference.

🎥 Watch this week’s Mindful Monday to see why something so simple can have such a powerful impact.

If you’re exploring memory care options for someone you love, our team is here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
