✨ Celebrating Our Own: Laura Dean ✨

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Laura Dean, one of our talented RNs, for her remarkable achievement as an award-winning author. Laura recently wrote and published the children’s picture book Georgia Jipp: Blizzard Pilot, which tells the inspiring true story of a courageous young pilot who flew more than 150 life-saving missions for the American Red Cross during the historic South Dakota blizzards of 1949.

On January 30, we had the privilege of showcasing Laura’s work during our Connection Series event, where attendees learned about the inspiration behind the book, participated in a thoughtful Q&A, and enjoyed a special book signing. One of the highlights of the afternoon was hearing Laura read the story aloud, bringing Georgia Jipp’s bravery and determination to life for everyone in the room.

Georgia Jipp: Blizzard Pilot has received multiple national awards, including the SPUR Award, Will Rogers Medallion, and Willa and the Moonbeam Award—a true testament to its powerful storytelling and beautiful illustrations.

In addition to this acclaimed work, Laura is also the author of Sweet Potato Moon, a touching children’s book set in 1930s Korea that beautifully captures history, culture, and heart. We encourage everyone to check out both titles and support Laura’s incredible work.

We are honored to have Laura as part of our team and immensely proud of her achievements as an author. Both books can be found on Amazon.

🎨 Rock Painting Fun at the Village!
We had a wonderful time at our recent Create & Sip Rock Painting class led by resident artist Fran Sargent. Fran shared the basics of painting on rocks and guided attendees through a simple, charming design that can be used as a paperweight or gifted to brighten someone’s day.

Fran’s mini works of art are known for bringing whimsy, joy, and smiles to all who see them—and this class was no exception! To make the afternoon even more special, Fran raffled off a beautifully painted shell, and Rosalie was the proud winner.

With great attendance, creativity flowing, and lots of laughter, it was a fun and inspiring event for everyone involved. Thank you, Fran, for sharing your talent with our community! 💛

Research shows that regularly engaging with different scents, may help strengthen brain pathways linked to memory and thinking.
