IMPORTANT UPDATE!
(TL,DR: new services, rates, and policies)
Hi all! I may be in the minority, but I am thrilled about the change of seasons here in the NRV. I love having the chance to exercise outdoors without being drenched in sweat, wearing hoodies and fuzzy socks, sipping hot coffee... and what better time of year than winter to come have a massage on our cozy, heated massage table?!?

Kate Absher, LMT recently celebrated ONE YEAR of practice with Body Mechanics! One thing about Katie: she NEVER stops learning. In this short time, she has completed continuing education courses in:
Shoulder Girdle and Rotator Cuff Injuries
Hands, Feet, & Face Techniques
Myofascial Techniques for Hamstrings and Shoulders
Tennis and Golfer's Elbow
Orthopedic Cupping (her specialty!)
AND several Sports Massage Therapy Certifications!
Katie has been a huge asset to the practice, and has built a loyal following of active (but sore) clients- including several nationally ranked athletes! To perform at your absolute best, a series of sessions with Katie is your ticket.

NEW SERVICES WITH LAURA:
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic, deeply relaxing and therapeutic technique that encourages the optimal flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. Our lymph system filters waste and abnormal cells, creates immune cells, absorbs fats and fat-soluble vitamins from the digestive system, and regulates fluid levels in the tissues. It can get sluggish for many reasons: injury/surgery, autoimmune disorders, periods of sedentary lifestyle, dehydration, poor diet, radiation therapy, even habitual shallow breathing!
Laura R. Owens, LMT is the owner of Body Mechanics Therapeutic Massage. She has been practiced bodywork in Maine, Massachusetts, and Virginia for over 25 years! Laura’s practice has focused primarily on sports, deep tissue, and orthopedic modalities. She earned her certification in MLD in 2024 from Monarch Continuing Education, led by Carmen Recupero, who is an internationally renowned expert in the field. Laura is so excited to offer MLD to our community where there is a tremendous need for this healing work!

RATE CHANGES WITH LAURA:
Earlier this year, I began rolling out new rates this year as new clients join the practice. Alas, it is time for all existing clients will be on the same rate schedule, starting on 1/1/26. These rates apply to the traditional sports/deep tissue/circulatory blend of techniques you've all received from me over the years.

***Revised Rescheduling, Cancellation, and No Show Policy***
Please note that appointment change fees can be avoided if you can send a friend or family member in your place!
Changes within 7 days - 10% appointment change fee
Changes within 48 hours - 50% appointment change fee
Cancellation within 24 hours: 100% appointment change fee
No Show: 100% fee, may require prepayment for future appointments
-Fees are due at the time of the change.
-Future appointments may be cancelled if payment of fees is not completed within 24 hours.
-True emergencies will be handled on a case by case basis.
-Repeated appointment changes may require prepayment for future appointments.
