We're recognizing National Women Physicians Day today, a chance to honor the pioneering women who have shaped the future of medicine. This day pays tribute to Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman in the United States to earn a medical degree in 1849—a milestone she achieved despite overwhelming barriers. Her courage and determination continue to inspire generations of women in healthcare.

We’re especially inspired by pioneers like Mary Eliza Mahoney, the first Black professionally trained nurse in the United States. Her dedication to compassionate, patient‑centered care continues to influence the work we do every day in home health and hospice.
