โจ๏ธ Late Night Learning with Melissa Wetterlund, MA, LP, LMFT, RPT-Sโข - Minnesota Legal and Ethical Considerations in Play Therapy โจ๏ธ
This training will aim to touch on the many ethical and legal issues faced by play therapists in the state of Minnesota. There are many ethical guidelines that uniquely affect those that work with children, and this training will aim to clarify many of the gray areas that arise in this work by diving into the MN statutes to truly understand the laws that underlie the standards of practice in the work we do. Topics will include working with blended families and custody considerations, informed consent, mandated reporting, subpoenas and court orders, confidentiality and releasing records, impact of telehealth when working with children, and many more play therapy related topics.
Learning Objectives ๐
1. Describe 3 key considerations when working with children from divorced family systems
2. Explain the difference between standard of practice and legal obligation
3. Identify 2 considerations when receiving a request for records
4. Demonstrate the ability to think critically using the MN statutes as your guiding criteria when making ethical decisions
Refunds are not given for this online event. All requests for accommodations require your request to be on file in our office three weeks prior to the training date. Minnesota Association for Play Therapy will make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants with disabilities access to trainings.
