April is Sarcoidosis Awareness Month

At Union General Pulmonology Associates, we stand with those living with sarcoidosis and remain committed to supporting our patients, families, and community.

What is Sarcoidosis?
Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease in which the body develops tiny clusters of immune cells, called granulomas that form in different organs. These granulomas most commonly affect the lungs and lymph nodes, but they can appear anywhere in the body.

When too many granulomas form, they can interfere with how an organ works, leading to a wide range of symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, persistent cough, or unexplained swelling.

Union General Pulmonology Associates is proud to celebrate March as National Sleep Awareness Month and next week March 8-14, 2026 as Sleep Awareness Week. This awareness is to highlight the critical link between quality sleep and overall health. Pulmonology experts emphasize this time to address sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea, which frequently impact respiratory health and are often undiagnosed with over 1 in 3 adults not getting sufficient sleep.

Sleep is vital for cardiovascular, cognitive, and respiratory health. Lack of sleep is considered a public health epidemic, making March a key time for sleep screenings.
