During pregnancy, the stomach has less room to expand and the sphincter at the top of the stomach is relaxed by pregnancy hormones allowing stomach acid to make its way into the esophagus. Indigestion, acid reflux, or heartburn – whatever you call it – is an annoying and painful part of pregnancy. Tums, ginger, and papaya extract may help ease the symptoms of heartburn.
