Elvis was in the building on Monday! Rusty Weeks, vocal performer from Ottumwa, wooed the residents with his interpretation of many of Elvis Presley's top tunes. The ladies swooned as he took requests and interacted with them in true Elvis fashion. A big "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" to Rusty for taking the time to entertain us!

Exciting News from Mulberry Place Independent & Assisted Living! We are thrilled to introduce Hannah Strausser as our new Assisted Living Manager. Hannah has built a successful career centered around efficiency, organization, and striving to provide the best care and happy environment. She has 8 years’ experience caring for the elderly and 4 years’ experience serving survivors in crisis situations. Hannah is excited to be a part of Mulberry and we're excited to have her here!

August has started out with a bang! Our law center "commandeered" the BINGO game on Wednesday. This is always so much fun, as these dapper men in uniform entertain our Bingo players!
We also were glad to have a new purposful activity - snapping green beans! Volunteer, Linda Rowe, brought a mess of beans from her garden and a few lucky ladies eagerly snapped-away! If anyone in our community has green beans to snap, please consider bringing them to us, as our residents do miss this very meaningful task.

July has certainly been a busy month for activities at the Bloomfield Care Center! Last week, our school-age friends from the "Rainbows & Friends" Daycare visited us again! They sang to our residents and assisted with a rousing game of BINGO! We were also blessed with the musical stylings of "Dave & Jeff" last week. This week, we continued with the fun of our first annual "Trivia Showdown!" Three teams competed for a trophy by answering questions in 5 different categories; American History, Science, Pop Trivia, Bible, and Sports. Teams were comprised of residents and family members. The winning team, affectionately named, "Fox Valley Trotters" took first place. Congratulations, and thank you to all who participated! It truly was a blast!

The Bloomfield Care Center was very well represented at the Davis County Fair this year. Residents created some lovely crafts for this year's Fair, with all three entries earning blue ribbons! We proudly hung the yarn mandala and sunflower wall-hangings in our dining room, while the "Pot-Heads" can be seen in various places around the home. (We made 4 of them!) One ambitious resident entered a precious little independently-made, hand-pieced doll quilt which also earned a blue ribbon! Congratulations to all who created these lovely crafts. Your efforts sure paid-off!

Residents were delighted to have children from the "Rainbows & Friends" Christian Daycare Center visit them las week! The school-age children, led and accompanied by their director, Tracy Emmons, performed some patriotic hymns before pairing-up with a resident "buddy" for a lively game of BINGO. We look forward to doing this again in a couple of weeks! Thank you, to Tracy and her staff for providing us with the entertainment and your loving companionship. We enjoyed it very much!
