What a great outing we had today! The weather was so perfect... we were happy to have the cool breeze after the past couple days. We went to Gary Froiland's Country Museum by Stewartville. Gary is one of our Entertainers here at Prairie Manor and is a man of many talents! He is a true hobbyist and collects anything and everything imaginable, and it is so neatly, and sometimes comically displayed. He has that true Norweigian wit about him that most of us Minnesoootan's can appreciate. Thank you, Gary, for the tours, the wisdom and the experience!!

We ordered food from the Strawberry Festival at Red Oak Grove Church today! Boy, was that delicious! Thank you to all who organize, do meal prep and set up and clean up for this event year after year! We ended up serving 18 residents and 6 guests (some ate in their rooms) and I believe around 10 at Heather Haus. We always look forward to this!!

Saturday was Armed Forces Day, and a couple of our residents who are Veterans spoke about some of their experiences in the Armed Services. We played co****le with the patriotic co****le set that our Restore staff made a couple of years ago, along with the patriotic beanbags that another resident had donated at the same time. Thank you to all of our Servicemen and Servicewomen who have served our great Country. God bless the USA!! 🇺🇲

Today's "Tapestry of Life" Theme was Travel... as in, celebrating our Retirements!! Here at Prairie Manor, we truly believe that our residents can still live life to the fullest, even while receiving Skilled Nursing Care (and excellent care, at that!). For lunch, the kitchen served choice of a Chinese dish, or an Italian dish, Scandinavian Vegetables, Georgia Peaches, a Fortune Cookie and an Apple-filled Churro for dessert! We planned a camping adventure in the courtyard today after lunch, but with the strong winds, we moved it indoors, where we ate S'mores and sang campfire songs. Then as if we hadn't gotten our fill of sweets, the kitchen gals served up "Pies from Around the World" (Boston Cream and French silk). We ended today's adventure playing "Road Trip Bingo" for double the money than usual and with 4 jackpot winners at the end! Oh, yes... we did have a handful of "tourists" in our bunch as well!

"Today during out "Tapestry of Life" Celebration, we celebrated of 70s, and we've got to brag that it was TOTALLY GROOVY!! One of the choices on the menu today was a Richard Simmons Salad and the kitchen made a tie die cake for dessert. We had Groovy Fruit Strips and candy ci******es for a snack and had lots of laughs! We had a Disco that was outta this world! Everyone agreed that our DJ, Aikong See from Rochester, has GOT to come back... someone said at least a couple times a year... others said quarterly for sure... some exclaimed once a month for sure and a couple more were pushing for once a week. Oh, but the smiles, dancing, toe-tapping, and singing that was going on! It couldn't have been any groovier than it was! Peace out!! 🤩✌️☮️
