Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

Your culture, your voice, your story, they all matter in mental health care.

This month, we’re shining a light on the importance of culturally sensitive care and making space for every community to be heard, understood, and supported.

Helpful Tips for Mental Wellness:
✔️ Talk openly about how you feel, it’s a strength, not a weakness
✔️ Take time to rest, reflect, and recharge
✔️ Connect with someone you trust
✔️ Seek support from providers who respect your values and culture

💬 Appointments are available with our board-certified doctor, Dr. Noor Husain who brings years of experience in compassionate, culturally informed mental health care.

📞 To make an appointment, call 630 550 7252 or email us SMCCS.CONSULTATION@GMAIL.COM
You deserve support that truly understands you.

Excessive Heat Warnings and Advisories will be in place for this weekend into early next week for a dangerous heat wave. Highs in the 90s, maybe even near 100 degrees early next week with heat index valves 100-110 degrees. Lows in the 70s and low 80s at night will give no breaks in the heat. When the temperatures rise this summer, staying cool is crucial, especially for our seniors. If you or someone you know needs relief, visit a nearby cooling center.

Few centers are open to help you stay safe and cool. For cook county, find additional shelters and at: https://www.cookcountyil.gov/service/cooling-centers.

Find temporary Cooling Centers throughout DuPage County on 211dupage.gov💻 under Disaster Relief Service or directly at https://tinyurl.com/DupCool. You can also call 211📱 or text your ZIP code to 898211 to find cooling sites nearby.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids,
stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.
Stay safe and keep yourself cool and hydrated!
