Dr. Emile Gurstelle has met all requirements and has obtained an Authority to Practce Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the PSYPACT Commission.

This certification allows him to practice psychotherapy by telehealth in about 40 states with more on the way.

PSYPACT is an interstate compact that allows psychologists licensed in PSYPACT to practice telepsychology and/or practice temporarily into other PSYPACT participating states. WE ARE ABOUT FOUR MONTHS INTO USING TELEHEALTH AND IT IS TIME FOR AN UPDATE.

Based on feedback from patients, I would estimate about 95% are comfortable with the arrangement and about 5% would rather be back for in-person visits.

I am surprised by the number of people who sit in their vehicles for the visit, thus assuring them total privacy, which they may not feel in their homes.

It is fun to watch cats walk across the screen and dogs jump on laps during these virtual visits. Pets are welcome to these sessions and they promise to keep what they have heard confidential.

Many patients are having their co-payments and deductibles waived by their insurance companies, at least until September 30, 2020.
