Please join us in welcoming Katie Schachter as Executive Director of Grand Living at Tamaya, officially beginning her role on March 23.

Many residents and families had the chance to meet Katie during our recent meet-and-greet, and we are excited to have her leadership guiding our community. Katie brings more than 20 years of senior living and healthcare leadership experience, including oversight of independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities.

A Jacksonville resident since 2017, Katie’s passion for senior living began early while helping care for her grandmother and continued through her studies in music therapy and work supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s.

When she’s not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Mark, their children Joseph and Lyla, and their dogs Booster and Sammi. You’ll often find her cheering on her kids at baseball games and cheerleading competitions on the weekends.

Herb’s life was a testament to courage, sacrifice, and family. As a recipient of the Purple Heart, his dedication to the freedoms we cherish today will never be forgotten. While we are deeply saddened by his recent passing, we are profoundly honored to have shared in his final milestone: a magical 101st birthday celebration as the guest of honor at Walt Disney World Resort.

From quilts handmade in the 1800s to deeply personal tributes made from a loved one’s clothing, these pieces are more than just fabric—they are legacies.

As our Director of FACETS®, Jenna Johnson, put it: "The stories behind these small pieces of fabric are really amazing."
