Mission / Service (Sorry, long post)
In the Traeger house we talk frequently about who we can serve. International medical service has been on our hearts for a long time and since 2012, Meg and I have been going to Haiti with a detour to El Salvador in 2020.
Because of the pandemic, our plans to make it back to Haiti in the summer of 2020 and in January of 2021 have been delayed. Now we wait for the go ahead to return to the people of Haiti. They are hurting.
But what about here, in central Illinois? It’s easy to serve people across an ocean for a couple weeks then return to our cozy homes. I’ve always seen my work as my daily mission. Serving you is a great pleasure to me. I truly love it.
Meg Traeger, I have a lot of great things to say about her. She has always had a servants heart. But since COVID she has been on overdrive serving locally. Initially helping anyone in need and once the vaccine became available she has volunteered and rallied the troops to help with vaccine clinics.
I’m so proud of her and what these pictures show. The first is my pharmacist Meg and her pharmacist mother helping out with the vaccine clinic in Piatt county. Followed by Meg giving that handsome man his first COVID vaccine. That man got COVID towards the end of October and I told him, “dad you need to be prepared that you might be on deaths door in a couple days.” I’m glad I was wrong. I’m glad he got excellent care at Carle Hospital in Urbana and now he is able to get his COVID vaccine.
Guys, this vaccine is a game changer. These vaccines are safe and effective. If I didn’t trust this my family would not be getting the vaccine. Do your part, be safe, get yourself and those you love vaccinated.
Look for opportunities to serve one another locally. An easy way is to protect your community and those you love by getting vaccinated and supporting those eligible to get vaccinated.
