Whether you are starting your fitness because of an injury or were unfortunate enough to experience one during training, a lot of frustration can come to the forefront because of the situation. Below you will find five tips to help you best recover from your injury and maintain (or improve) your current fitness level!

1. Get an Appropriate Assessment: Find a qualified professional who can help you come to the correct diagnosis so you are the most informed. This information will help settle any concerns and can be helpful in letting your trainer know how to modify movements.

2. Modify Daily Activities: This can apply to the gym movements that a trainer can help with but also includes activities at work and at home. The gym is commonly thought of as the physical labor but household chores and routine work tasks are all part of the total workload on your body. Whether that means more breaks or limiting certain positions, modification is important for recovery.

3. Extra Focus on Nutrition: The foods we put in our body are the fuel and scaffolding our body uses to move and rebuild. When it comes to injury, our body is continuously using additional energy to repair the affected tissues. Water, micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), and protein intake are all vital to a full recovery.

4. Prepare with Rehab Exercises: Unfortunately, those rehab exercises your health professional gave you won’t just disappear overnight. Using these movements to prepare for more movements is their exact purpose. Be sure to incorporate the movements into your warm-up so your body is ready to move.

5. Maintain Overall Fitness: When your body is at its best, it is able to perform AND recovery at its most efficient. Exercise floods the body with hormones that assist in building muscle, strengthening tendons, and removing inflammation from the body.

With the combined knowledge of injury and fitness, Foundation First Fitness Center is your local expert one-stop-shop for healing and performance.

Head & Neck Injuries: What We Commonly See in Clinic

At our clinic, we focus on identifying why symptoms are occurring—not just where they hurt—so care can be targeted, progressive, and evidence-based.

Head and neck complaints are some of the most common reasons people seek care—and they rarely come from just one thing. Here’s a quick breakdown 👇

Common Injuries
• Cervical muscle strains & joint irritation
• Whiplash-associated disorders
• Headaches, migraines, and concussions
• Vertigo

Common Causes
• Prolonged desk or screen time
• Sudden acceleration/deceleration (car accidents, sports contact)
• Compensation patterns
• Repetitive or sustained postures
• Inadequate recovery from training or daily stress

Common Symptoms
• Neck stiffness or limited range of motion
• Headaches or pressure at the base of the skull
• Pain radiating into the shoulders or upper back
• Fatigue, tension, or difficulty concentrating

📍Have questions or want us to dive deeper into any of these? We’re always happy to educate.

Shoveling snow? Do it the smart way this winter.

✔️ Use good form: lift with your legs, not your low back.
✔️ Take timely breaks to stay loose and avoid fatigue.
✔️ Pace yourself and break the driveway into manageable chunks instead of powering through all at once.

Protect your back, move with intention, and keep yourself feeling great long after the snow is gone. ❄️
