It was a “Worm Weather” kind of week! Preschoolers really like talking about worms. Who knew?

“Game” changer! Did you know that playing games with your child promotes learning speech and language skills? We used our new game, Doggie Doo this week in speech therapy. Check out some of the skills we practiced below.

Speech Sounds:
🎲 consonant blends (e.g., /sm, st, skw, bl/):
smell, squeeze, stink, blue, smash, swallow

🎲 velars /k, g/: go, yuck, wag, goo, sticky, get,
pick, dog

🎲 final consonants (e.g., /s, t, n, m, k, g/): dice,
bone, wag, p**p, eat, yum, yuck, pup, look

Language Skills:
🎲 concepts (descriptive, quantity, spatial,
time): gooey, loud, quiet, hungry, one, two,
more, most, empty, none, out, in, on, first,
next, last

🎲 core vocabulary words: get, want, finish, go,
more, look, put

🎲 verbs: squeeze, smash, push, get, eat, p**p,
roll, scooped, shoveling, smell, looking

🎲 question response: Whose turn?, Where is
it?, Why is he eating?, What did you do?

🎲 social words: my turn, I want more, your
turn, please, thank you

🎲 following directions: put in, scoop it up, wait
your turn, find yellow and red, squeeze the
bone & look

Today in speech... ACTION WORDS!

Game: Place sticks colored with markers, pipe cleaners, etc in a cup. Choose one and match it with the colored pocket/ envelope of the same color. Have the kids guess what color is going to be pulled out of the cup or what they might see in the pockets/ envelopes. You can use photos, magazine pictures, pictures drawn by students, or pics printed from the computer.

🎯 Label the action
🎯 Answer questions about the pictures
🎯Practice saying pronouns & ING verbs together
