Good Morning. It's a rainy day today. What a great day to learn something new. We're teaching Cupping for Everyday Treatments today. What can this do for you, you ask? I've taken a cupping course. I've got a handle on this. One of the things I've found in the many cupping courses that I've watched online or taken in person is that we all use them differently and that's a GOOD thing.
In a recent appointment with a client that would experience muscles spasms only when he was on a massage table, prone or supine it didn't matter. I asked if he would mind doing some cupping and he said not at all. So I cupped the area of spasm, as his body indicated it wanted, then I did mobilization in other areas that it was referring to until the spasms stopped. Using the tension in the cups as a way to focus his breath to the area and help him calm the spasm. It was beautiful. By the time we were done his 2hr session, not only was his spasm gone, but it didn't come back (it often did prior to this).
If you missed this cupping class you can sign up for Therapeutic Foot Treatments where we explore Reflexology and Zone therapy as a stand alone treatment or to enhance other therapeutic outcomes. I've been a massage therapist for 25years and teaching it for at least 23years. I'm sure I can find a really cool client success story about that too. Today though, I'm all about Cupping.
