As we honor National Spiritual Week, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who bring light, faith, and comfort to our residents. A special thank you to Chaplain Alma, whose dedication and love shine through in all that she does! From leading Bible studies, to offering Healing Hearts, one-on-one visits, and beautiful chapel services every Sunday.

We’re also incredibly grateful to St. Edward’s Church for their monthly Catholic services, providing our residents with an opportunity for spiritual nourishment and community.

And last but certainly not least, a huge thank you to our amazing chapel volunteers who start each Sunday with energy, joy, and smiles, making sure our residents' get to the Chapel on time!

Thank you to everyone who makes our spiritual services a bright and meaningful part of life here at MN Masonic Home. Your dedication and care truly make a difference!

Gideon brought smiles, calm, and comfort to our residents, and also made time to meet with our incredible nursing students, who are gaining hands-on experience and making meaningful connections as part of our on-site nursing education program.

It’s moments like these that remind us how important compassionate care and community truly are. 💙

I love it when my worlds collide!
During my visit to MN Masonic Home this week, I ran into some nursing students who are studying at Normandale Community College — one of my regular stops! It made me so happy to see how they’re using their new skills as they learn and grow into practicing nurses.

We’ve got new sweatshirts on campus, designed by our staff, for our staff!

Each one proudly says, “This is what care looks like.”

It may seem like a small gesture, but it represents something much bigger: the pride we take in our work, the compassion we show every day, and the sense of family that makes Minnesota Masonic Home so special.

Because here, care isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.

At Minnesota Masonic Home, every day is made brighter because of the people who fill these halls: our dedicated staff, caring families, and the residents who inspire us all. You are the heartbeat of this community, and we’re grateful for the trust and love you bring to this place we call home.

This past weekend, our friends at Minnesota Masonic Charities gathered to celebrate you, the caregivers, companions, and champions who make the Masonic Home a true family. The stories shared were a powerful reminder of why this place has been a source of comfort and compassion for 105 years.

If you feel moved to help ensure this legacy continues, please consider a gift in support of the extraordinary care provided here every day: mnmasoniccharities.org/donate

At 105 ½ years young, our beloved resident Mimi reminds us all that gratitude is the best way to start the day. Born in 1920, she has lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, and 19 presidencies — all with her signature wit, sense of humor, and love for her family.

Though nearly blind and deaf, Mimi keeps busy teaching neighbors to play poker, spending time at the family cabin, and enjoying her favorite meal (spaghetti, of course). Her advice for longevity? “Find something to be thankful for each day.”

We’re inspired daily by Mimi’s humor and resilience, from her book club of John Grisham audiobooks to her belief that joy can be found in the simplest things.

“When I get up in the morning, I try to think of something I’m thankful for. It’s a sunny day … it could be a BM — BMs are very popular around here!”

This profile of Mimi first appeared in an article by Jenna Gloeb (September 28, 2025).
