Patient PT owner & founder Kelly Clark is a former persistent-pain patient who understands the frustration and heartache of mis- and missed diagnosis. That’s why she focuses on providing the highest quality, most patient-centered healthcare possible.
Dr. Clark provides hands-on therapy services including massage therapy, physical therapy, and Graston Technique. She also offers her expertise as a Doctor of Physical Therapy by providing comprehensive evaluation, therapeutic exercise prescription, and wellness coaching and evidence-based training programs for flat up-front prices, with no insurance or referral required.
Every appointment takes place one-on-one with Dr. Clark, in the sensory-friendly Patient PT office at Executive Park North. Kelly greets every patient personally from the privacy of her solo-provider practice, and works with them from start to finish to ensure that neither her nor her clients ever miss asking a vital question or double-checking to make sure they understand an exercise or concept that will aid in providing the absolute best patient-centered treatments.
Patient PT keeps overhead low by skipping expensive equipment and passive treatments that people can’t easily replicate at home. That means that despite the fact they do not offer insurance billing, treatment is affordable, focused on getting the best results possible, and equips people with the skills and knowledge they need to manage their wellness independently and for the long haul.
Contrary to popular belief, aging does NOT mean inevitable pain, lack of energy, lost range of motion, or giving up the activities we love to do -- it’s just that most insurance-approved treatments don’t directly treat the cause of those symptoms. Most healthcare providers simply aren’t empowered with the time or incentive to fill these gaps and educate patients because insurance companies don’t pay them to do it and medical documentation requirements don’t usually require it, so they can’t prioritize doing it. At Patient PT, insurance companies aren’t paying Dr. Clark to do things their way. You’re paying her to do things your way.
Unlike most physical therapists, Kelly is dual-licensed as a massage therapist, and still offers the best massages money can buy as a standalone service. Book a 30-minute session to get some targeted attention on a problem area, or up to 90 luxurious minutes of full-body Swedish-style and deep-tissue treatment with that unique West-coast influence that makes Dr. Clark’s massages so incredibly relaxing, you’ll wish it would never end.
Cash PT is the modern, evidence-based approach to tackling most pain conditions. If you’ve got a nagging ache or pain and you know you aren’t interested in an unnecessary prescription, scan, or surgery, give it a try!
Your body was made to move, and Dr. Kelly Clark can help you figure out what moves you need to make and bumps need worked out to get YOU back to doing the things that make you want to get out of bed every day. Kelly’s clients come in with limitations from old injuries or surgeries that didn’t quite work out the way they thought, and leave in the fewest number of visits possible back to doing the things they love, like gardening, playing sports, dancing, running, doing yoga, or playing with their kids and grandkids.
Patient PT welcomes people of all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, and orientations, and clients need NEVER worry that a judgmental stranger will be watching them work things out with Dr. Clark, because all treatments take place in the privacy of our little office on the near north side of Bloomington Indiana. Sometimes just one visit it all it takes, and Patient PT is here to give you that one, two, or ten visits that you and your licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy decide you need, as a team.
Because Dr. Clark works with absolute independence, she gets to take on fun projects like contract physical therapy with NEURO TOUR, a performance-arts physical therapy company that provides PT services to traveling second-run Broadway shows and concerts. Dr. Clark took her first contract with NEURO TOUR in 2019 and continues to provide services to performers at shows that visit IU Auditorium in Bloomington Indiana. She is a mayoral appointee of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Commission (aka BPSC or Bike-Ped) and brings her long experience as a project manager and grant writer to efforts such as bringing bus service to the near-northside area where Patient PT makes its home.
Dr. Clark is in the process of applying for non-profit status to ensure that she can continue focusing on providing the best possible care and impact on her community for the long haul. She offers a pro-bono program for people with persistent pain called Pain MAP, and uses the results her clients get to hone the program and help other physical therapists and health care providers learn how to help the people who are most vulnerable to our current difficult healthcare environment, people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Dr. Clark chooses to focus on this broad patient population because she understands that folks struggle for MANY different reasons, and all of those reasons are valid and can make it a struggle to get well. Kelly believes that if we can give the best possible care to those with the fewest resources, we can begin to build a better healthcare experience for everyone, because it is made to be the most accessible from the ground up.
Dr. Clark held a fundraiser during the grand opening of her physical therapy practice in September of 2019 so that she could set aside funds specifically and only to pay the patient-care fees for this program. Dr. Clark donates all administrative time, research, promotional work, and overhead free of charge.
In the event that Patient PT eventually attains federal non-profit recognition, Dr. Clark intends to seek grant funding to expand her pro-bono offerings and community education offerings (currently limited by funding and available volunteer time), and hopefully one day expand and begin to offer staff and other professional positions.
