Some very helpful information in regards to help out at the Pantry. Every little bit helps. ❤️
I'm combining 2 questions 1. What are some food items that rarely get donated but people always are excited when you have them? and 2. When can I bring donations? Do you give hygiene products too or just food?
Non perishable donations can be dropped off at any time in our 2 large wooden drop boxes around back that look like small sheds. or drop them by anytime we are there. While our hours on Monday Tues and Wed are 3-6, we are actually there 11-6+ ( 11-3 on Sat with distribution 1-3 ) getting things prepped and ready.
We try and give out cleaning, hygiene , Female supplies, adult diapers, and baby items when we have them! Feel free to ask if you need something, or give us a diaper size, if we have them we will give them!
Rarely donated food but much loved..... SPICES, spices are like gold! One of the first things people give up when they are running low on money is spices, and that include salt and pepper. If you think about it, that makes sense, as spices don't fill you up and can be costly. Also, canned greens ( spinach, collard, mustard greens) and sauerkraut, while many say yuk, there are a lot of people, especially older people who LOVE these excellent healthy items. Canned meats such as spam, pretty much any canned meat other than tuna. Black eyed peas, peas and carrots ( like mixed in same can ), pineapple, mandarin oranges. Any kind of chef BoyRDee items like ravioli or spagettios. Canned items that have pop tops, why these? We learned in our first year that many people do not have a can opener and have to hope for pop tops, especially the children who come to pick up food ( but that's another story ). So donations of can openers are also needed.
