Village Hands takes on South Carolina! Had the privilege of being a postpartum doula for one of my dearest friends the first 2 weeks of September. Their little one made entry to the world 4 months earlier than expected as a micropremie and he fought so hard the whole time. Got to go home the week of his due date!! It was a pleasure watching them take on the new step of having baby boy at home and I felt special to be apart of that transition. The human spirit, human body and science are such amazing things and I look forward to watching them grow as a family!

Being invited into a new and vulnerable space for families is a privilege I'll never take for granted. Being able to cherish a new life and watch them grow is a pleasure I'll never get tired of. Being able to lessen the loads on families is an important task that I will always take seriously.

Postpartum nutrition is so important! It can also be an aspect that is hard to achieve when not planned for. It takes a team and some effort because new parents are busy, healing and exhausted. Family/friends setting up a meal train can be a huge help! Sometimes, families utilize meal services. Meal prepping frozen meals can also be a huge help!

Part of my role as a doula is to ensure they have a plan in place, educating on some small changes to get enough fiber, protein and vitamins and cooking for the family! I've cooked full meals or just snacks while breastfeeding/pumping, or some families have it covered! What are your favorite recipes?
