Serenus Float and Wellness Center

Serenus Float and Wellness Center The benefits of reduced stress, improved pain management, and improved relaxation are a visit away! Floating is the future of mental and physical health.
(210)

The idea of Serenus started many years ago when I first learned about sensory deprivation, or more positively stated "sensory reduction" therapy. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10+ years, and have worked as a therapist for a psychiatric hospital with all various populations. I feel one of the downfalls of "talk therapy" is that it cannot always provide the client with ways to al

low introspection outside of the therapy setting (self awareness and contemplation) of utilizing solutions in their everyday lives. Life is full of distractions and obstacles that deter individuals from reaching a stable state. Floating allows for an individual to have time to themselves without all those distractions. To allow for the individual to reach a deeper state of self awareness and helps open up the mind in regards to creativity and clarity. From a therapists point of view this is an invaluable strategy for an individual to reach their true potential and optimal level of self care. Plus, how many people out there know what it actually feels like to float in space!!!! Since we opened we have added several more modalities to help in finding relaxation, recovery, and pain management. We offer Float Tanks (sensory dperivation tanks), Infrared Saunas', Cold Plunge, Massage Chairs with Oxygen Bars, truSculpt iD Body Sculpting, and Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy. We are truly your One-Stop-Shop for Health and Wellness!

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treats chronic wounds and other medical conditions. Room air contains 21% oxygen, while hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides you with air that contains 100% oxygen. A pressurized chamber delivers oxygen that’s two to three times higher than normal air pressure, which helps your lungs gather and absorb more oxygen. Oxygen helps the tissues in your body heal and withstand infections.

The FDA has approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help treat the following:

Air or gas bubbles in your blood vessels (air or gas embolism)
The bends (decompression sickness)
Burns
Carbon monoxide poisoning
Gangrene caused by the bacteria Clostridium (gas gangrene)
Hearing loss
Injuries that cut or break your skin (wounds)
Loss of vision
Radiation injuries.
Severe anemia
Severe bone and skin infections.
Skin grafts
Trauma from force or pressure on a body part (crush injury)

Alternative medicine centers claim that HBOT can also help treat:

Age-related symptoms or conditions (anti-aging)
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
Cerebral palsy
COVID-19
Depression
Hair loss (alopecia)
HIV and AIDS
Migraine headaches
Sports injuries
Strokes

This week's color.... TOTAL DARKNESS

Being in a dark, quiet environment can significantly reduce the influx of sensory information that often contributes to stress and anxiety in daily life. The absence of visual stimuli, which some call "visual silence," can be particularly relieving for those feeling overwhelmed by stress.

Studies have shown that flotation therapy can decrease the production of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress.,

Help regulate the body's natural circadian rhythm, which can lead to more restful and restorative sleep, and increase  Melatonin production, a hormone crucial for regulating sleep patterns, which is stimulated in response to darkness.

Sensory deprivation can contribute to feelings of calm and may be helpful in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Some studies indicate that flotation-REST can significantly decrease stress, depression, and anxiety levels.

Sensory deprivation in float tanks can alleviate pressure on joints and muscles, potentially reducing chronic pain and tension. Studies suggest it may be beneficial for managing pain associated with conditions like fibromyalgia.

These are just A FEW of the benefits that deprivation therapy can offer.

Can you take on the life changing benefits of TOTAL DARKNESS?

Why is Epsom Salt so good for you?

Primarily due to the magnesium and sulfate they contain. These components are absorbed through the skin when soaking in an Epsom salt float, easing muscle soreness, reducing inflammation, and promoting relaxation.

The color of the week PURPLE

Purple's position between red (energy) and blue (calm) can inspire creativity and a sense of the otherworldly.

Purple is often linked to magic, mystery, and spiritual awareness, potentially due to its infrequent occurrence in nature.

Purple can have a calming effect, promoting introspection and peace, while also stimulating creativity and passion.

Come try a Float in PURPLE and remember,

Our Story

Floating is the ultimate experience in sensory reduction therapy. It allows the individual to shut out distracting sounds and visual stimuli to reach an optimal point of relaxation, meditation, and well-being, while at the same time having the feeling of weightlessness. A solution of Epsom salts paired with a water temperature of 93.5 degrees -- the same temperature as the surface of your skin -- provides the user with a true feeling of floating. After spending a few minutes in the tank, you begin to let go of control, physical feeling, and worry.

The idea of Serenus started back in 2000, when Joseph Gerbofsky, the owner of Serenus and then a Mental Health Counselor, was brainstorming for tools that could help his clients become more mindful and gain true introspection into their lives. Float Therapy then was well known and growing in Europe and the US West Coast, but at that time there was no empirical evidence to show, beyond the “he-said, she-said” of things, the actual benefits of floating. Today there are several empirical studies that have been done to prove that floating can reduce baseline anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. On top of those wonderful benefits, the Epsom Salt also helps with joint and back pain, reduces blood pressure, and allows the individual to absorb more magnesium through their skin which is essential to cognitive and muscular function.

Serenus has been open since Dec. 2017, and has had many great wellness enthusiasts through its doors. Serenus has added several new Wellness modalities since its opening to include Whole Body Cryotherapy, Infrared Sauna Therapy, Oxygen Bar, and plan to add Massage Therapy and Esthetician based services, as well as, Compression Recovery Equipment very soon.

Wellness isn’t just a trend, it is a lifestyle, and one that everyone should want to add to their lives for the betterment of themselves and those that love them. Serenus can help you feel better, be less stressed, and help you tackle the world demands that we are all plagued with. The benefits of reduced stress, improved pain management, and improved creativity and clarity are a float away -- join us today, Bloomington.
