Let me share some things with you that anger causes in the physical body.
Continual anger puts you at great risk of having a heart attack
Increases stroke risk
Weakens the immune system
Cause increased anxiety
Linked to depression
Causes stress which can shorten your life
Anger is a spirit; you can feel it when near an angry person, as it changes the entire atmosphere. Conversely, the Bible teaches that we too, can alter the atmosphere. We can do that with our words and with the way we respond in a situation that is fueled by anger.
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
(Prov 15:1)
Words can fuel or diffuse anger – it’s up to us to choose words to dispel anger.
Make sure you are using words that bring peace and not wrath. That being said, our tone makes a big difference as well. Speak kindly and quietly.
Psalm 37:8 says, Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.
Ephesians 4:31 in the Amplified says, Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
Eccl. 7:9 says, Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.
Proverbs 29:8 says, WISE men CALM anger.
Friends, it is entirely up to us whether we choose to be foolish (allowing anger to abide in our life and drive us daily) or wise, choosing to calm anger.
Psalm 37:8, in the New Living translation tells us, Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm.
Deep-rooted anger is not from God; therefore, it must come from the devil– we must SUBMIT to God and then RESIST the devil by resisting holding onto anger. Choose instead to speak words that bring calm to an angry situation.
Decide in our heart that we are going to walk in peace, no matter what. That, my friend, is not always easy, I get that. But all things are possible with God.
ALL THINGS! Even removing every bit of anger from our heart and lives.
Today, release anger, forgive and move it. Enjoy a life of true peace.
