Memorial Day at Evergreen Village was a blast! Our back wrap-around porch and grounds hosted a "circuit" of games enjoyed by residents and family members alike. We competed in games like Water Tic-Tac-Toe, Co****le, Football toss, Ball balancing, and much more. The root beer floats are always a big hit! Never a dull moment at Evergreen Village. !

Evergreen residents are a very patriotic and competitive bunch. Today we started our Raceday Happy Hour with a rendition of "Back Home Again in Indiana." While we always enjoy ice cream, wine, or beer at Happy Hour, today it was partnered with our annual Hot Wheels competition. Each resident chose a car and raced on a double track. Monroe County Public Library has a wonderful outreach program. The bookmobile comes to Evergreen Village every 2 weeks all year round. They unload magic and mystery and set it up in our lobby. The residents' can special order books, they can get books on tape and are provided a player with headphones and simply press a button to have the book read to them. Today is a special shout out to Amber and Dan who make this all possible. We are so lucky to have these 2 and this service. Our residents' lives are enhanced because of these special volunteers.

Here at Evergreen Village, we "party" everyday! The Happy Hour parties on Friday afternoons are especially fun. The residents enjoy a variety of Ice cream, wine, beer options. We always have music! This week we enjoyed live music by Nathan Dillon; he is a monthly regular and fan favorite. Some residents love to chair dance while others dance in the isles. A good time is always had by all.

At Evergreen Village, we believe every day is a gift! Today we received a very special gift: a "busload" full of flowers donated by Kroger South. We shared this special gift with our friends at Aperion Care to bless their residents during National Assisted Living Week. The remainder of the flowers are now gracing the dining room tables and residents' rooms all over Evergreen Village. Watch us grow! Evergreen Village has a very active Garden Club. On Earth Day, we planted zinnia seeds and sunflower seeds and watched them grow. Last Thursday, our outing was to The Flower and Herb Barn Nursery in Brown County, IN. Residents loved walking the gardens, buying plants, and dreaming of what our gardens will look like. We had a very tasty lunch outside under a vine and flower-covered pergola. We were surrounded by beautiful plants, and our beautiful residents enjoyed every minute. Stay tuned to watch with us as our garden grows throughout the summer.
