We’re proud to share that several of our surgeons have been named among America’s Leading Doctors for 2025 by Newsweek and Statista, a national recognition that reflects their commitment to clinical excellence and patient care.

Dr. Thomas Samuelson was ranked among the Top 5 glaucoma specialists in the country, a testament to his leadership, innovation, and the impact he continues to make in glaucoma care. He is joined in the glaucoma category by Dr. Christine Larsen and Dr. Clara Choo, both recognized for their dedication to preserving vision and advancing treatment for patients with glaucoma.

In the cataract category, Dr. Sherman Reeves and Dr. David Hardten were also honored for their work helping patients restore clarity of vision through advanced surgical techniques and personalized care.

This spring, our 2024–2025 Fellows—Dr. Kiersten Snyder and Dr. Chad Serels,—traveled to Honduras with Dr. Mark Hansen for an incredible mission trip in Tegucigalpa.

With limited access to eye care and no national eye bank, the need is significant. Together, the team performed around 60 surgeries and worked alongside local ophthalmology residents, sharing skills and surgical training to support sustainable care.

We’re so proud of our fellows for their dedication to global eye health and their compassionate care every step of the way!

Dr. Jill Melicher performed a life-saving surgery on Lindsay Brown after discovering a tumor in her eye.

Lindsay came in with blurry vision and left with a cancer diagnosis she never saw coming. She didn’t even know eye cancer was possible. Within days, she was in surgery—with a doctor who made her feel not just cared for, but genuinely safe. It was fast. It was terrifying. But it was also the beginning of healing.

Lindsay speaks about Dr. Melicher not just as a surgeon but also as a steady hand in the most vulnerable moment of her life.

They say the eyes are the window to the soul—but sometimes, they're the first alarm bell for something far more serious.
