Beginning Friday, May 22nd, the day after MCCSC’s last day of school, Community Kitchen staff and volunteers will begin preparing and serving meals to kids (anyone 18 or younger) at 10 different neighborhood stops around Bloomington. The Summer Food Service Program is sponsored by the USDA and the Indiana Department of Education and administered by Community Kitchen for over 20 years with additional support from many local individuals and businesses.
The program is anonymous and there are no requirements for kids to receive a nutritious lunch each Monday through Friday at any of the 10 locations. In addition, Community Kitchen provides meals and snacks to Crestmont/Ferguson Boys & Girls Club, The Rise, Girls Inc., New Hope Family Shelter and the Lincoln St. Boys & Girls Club for all kids enrolled in those programs.
If you would like to volunteer and help prepare or distribute meals to kids this summer, contact June Taylor, Volunteer Coordinator at 812-332-0999. We also welcome financial support to P.O. Box 3286, Bloomington, IN 47402-3286 or through our website at monroecommunitykitchen.com
