Do you know what a calorie deficit is?

A calorie deficit simply means your body is burning more calories than it takes in. When this happens consistently, your body begins to use stored energy (body fat), which leads to healthy, sustainable weight loss.

One of the best ways to help create that calorie deficit is movement.

You don’t need extreme workouts or hours in the gym. Simple daily movement can make a huge difference:

🚶‍♀️ Walking outside
🚴‍♀️ Bike rides
🧘‍♀️ Stretching or yoga
🏋️‍♀️ Strength training
🧹 Even cleaning or staying active throughout the day

Movement not only burns calories — it also:
✨ Boosts metabolism
✨ Improves mood and energy
✨ Supports hormones and blood sugar balance
✨ Helps your body become stronger and more efficient

The key is consistency, not perfection.

What a beautiful way to start the week! It’s only March and we’re getting a taste of sunshine, warm temps, and fresh air in the 70s today. Days like this are the perfect reminder that movement doesn’t have to happen inside a gym.

Take advantage of this gorgeous weather and get outside today. Go for a walk, stretch in the sunshine, take a bike ride, play with the kids, or simply step outside and move your body while breathing in that fresh warm air.

Movement outdoors does more than just help your body — it boosts mood, reduces stress, increases energy, and helps reset your mind for the week ahead.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your health is step outside, soak up the sunshine, and just move.

🌿 A Small Mindset Shift That Can Change Your Health 🌿

One of the biggest changes I encourage clients to make has nothing to do with food itself…

It’s changing the way we think about healthy eating.

So many people still view eating healthy as “dieting.”

But dieting usually means:

❌ restriction
❌ temporary changes
❌ something you can’t wait to stop

And that mindset often leads to frustration, burnout, and the cycle of starting over again and again.

What if we stopped thinking of it as dieting…

…and started thinking of it as fueling and supporting our bodies?

When we focus on nourishing our bodies instead of restricting them, things begin to shift.

Instead of asking:

“What can’t I eat?”

Try asking:

✨ I have something exciting to share… ✨

For the month of March, my focus at A.B. Wellness is all about detox, gut health, and supporting the body’s natural healing process.

Over the past year, so many of my clients have asked me the same question:

“What did you do to lose weight?”

The truth is… I didn’t do anything extreme.

I started focusing on healing my gut.

And honestly, when I started this journey it was only for myself. I wanted to get my health back on track and feel better in my own body. It was never my intention to sell these products.

But after so many friends and clients kept asking what I’ve been doing and how much better I’ve been feeling, I realized it might be helpful to simply share what has worked so well for me and so many others.

As many of you know, in addition to being a massage therapist I’m also a nutrition and wellness coach, so I’ve always believed that when you support the body the right way, it has an incredible ability to rebalance and heal itself.

And the changes that followed honestly surprised even me.

In less than 3 months I naturally lost 18 pounds, but even more important than the weight loss were the health changes.

For years I struggled with GERD, which made me feel sick and miserable almost daily. Since starting this gut health journey… that has completely gone away.

I’ve also dealt with PCOS and endometriosis for years. Since focusing on healing my gut, every scan my doctor has done has come back with the same words:

“Everything looks beautiful.”

No cysts.
No fibroids.
No signs of endometriosis.

And something else that shocked me…

Most of 2024 I was constantly sick with one thing after another. Since starting this journey at the beginning of 2025, I haven’t been sick with a single virus.

That’s when I started digging deeper and really understanding something powerful:

🌿 Over 70% of your immune system lives in your gut.
🌿 Your gut helps regulate hormones, metabolism, inflammation, and cravings.
🌿 When your gut is out of balance it can show up as bloating, fatigue, digestive issues, stubborn weight gain, mood swings, and inflammation.

Right now a lot of people are turning to medications like Ozempic for weight loss. While that works for some people, many also struggle with uncomfortable side effects.

First — thank you. Truly.

My schedule has been incredibly full lately (which I am SO grateful for 🥹), but I also know it’s been harder than usual for some of you to get in.

Because of that… I decided to open a few extra spots outside of my normal schedule next week to help accommodate everyone.

I only have 5 early-morning appointments and 1 afternoon appointment available:

🌿 Monday 3/2 – 8:00am
🌿 Tuesday 3/3 – 8:00am
🌿 Wednesday 3/4 – 8:15am
🌿 Wednesday 3/4 – 1:30pm
🌿 Thursday 3/5 – 8:00am
🌿 Friday 3/6 – 8:00am

Once these are filled, my schedule is back to being fully booked.
