Join us in welcoming Cemil Purut, MD, to TMH Physician Partners – Cardiothoracic Surgery!

Dr. Purut brings advanced training and extensive expertise in cardiothoracic surgery to our team. He earned his medical degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he also completed his residency and fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Purut shares that he chose TMH because of the outstanding team of physicians already here and the “strong institutional support for the complex procedures that make up cardiovascular surgery.”

Outside the hospital, he enjoys mountain biking, traveling and spending time at his family’s mountain home in North Carolina. 🚵‍♂️✈️🏔️

Join us in welcoming Erik Scott, MD, to TMH Physician Partners – Cardiothoracic Surgery!

Dr. Scott brings exceptional training and a personal connection to our region as he joins the TMH team. He earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of South Florida, then completed medical school at Howard University in Washington, D.C. While at Howard, he was awarded the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons Summer Internship and completed a congenital heart surgery internship at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He went on to complete his residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Virginia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society.

With family roots in Quincy, Dr. Scott is excited to bring his expertise home. “I want to be a part of the phenomenal health care that TMH provides to the community and my family,” he shares.

Dr. Scott specializes in coronary artery revascularization, aortic and mitral valve surgery, atrial fibrillation ablation, aortic surgery and thoracic surgery, caring for patients with complex cardiac and thoracic conditions. What he finds most rewarding is repairing a patient’s heart and seeing their quality of life restored.

At TMH, he looks forward to serving his community and helping grow the Cardiothoracic Surgery program.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Scott enjoys playing tennis and attending tennis tournaments, spending time at the beach with his family and relaxing with a good movie night. 🎾🏖️🎬

TMH recently joined forces with Hunger Fight, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood hunger through its Feed the Backpacks program. This important initiative provides nutritious weekend meals for elementary-aged children on the Federal Free and Reduced Meal Plan—kids who often rely on school for their daily meals and may otherwise face hunger at home.

As proud sponsors for the second year in a row, our team of volunteers rolled up their sleeves to package cheesy rice meals—helping ensure children in our community don’t go hungry over the weekend.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support Hunger Fight’s mission and to stand alongside so many others working to end childhood hunger.

Each home game this season, we’ve teamed up with the Florida State Seminoles Football to spotlight an incredible child with a special connection to TMH as our Kickoff Kid 🏈

Join us in cheering for today’s Kickoff Kid, Amrys!

At just three years old, a trampoline accident brought Amrys to the Tallahassee Memorial Children’s Center for emergency surgery. There, she received immediate attention for the fracture in her arm, receiving multiple pins to stabilize the break.

During Amrys’ time at the Children’s Center, the staff went out of their way to make her as comfortable as possible, including giving her stuffed animals to feel safe and her favorite movie, Frozen, to watch on repeat! ️💙

Now 11, Amrys shines on stage through theater and dance, and dreams of becoming an author one day.

💙🎓🎉 Cheers to our Summer Nurse Internship grads! 🎉🎓💙

Twenty outstanding student nurses completed the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) paid internship program this summer, gaining hands-on experience and insight from our incredible TMH team. This marks our 6th year of offering the only program of its kind in our area – and we couldn't be prouder of these future healthcare heroes! 👏

Join us in cheering on our first Kickoff Kid of the Florida State Seminoles football season! Each home game this season, we've teamed up with Florida State Seminoles to recognize an outstanding kiddo with a connection to TMH at the start of each game.

At just 32 weeks, Jessica Clayton had an emergency c-section and delivered her son, Boone at TMH. Weighing 4 pounds and 6 ounces, Boone spent 19 days in our NICU before “graduating.”

Each year, the Clayton family honors those 19 days with a donation drive through the TMH Foundation, giving back to help other NICU families. Now, a happy and healthy six-year-old, Boone loves being active with baseball, football, biking, horseback riding and swimming but hopes one day to be an “animal doctor.” 🐾
