Meet Sally Koons, RN at Indian Creek Healthcare Center! 🩺

Some nurses choose this calling. Others are shaped by it through love, loss, and purpose. Sally is one of those nurses and her journey began long before she earned her nursing degree. When she was young, she lost her father after a devastating fall. In one of the hardest moments of her life, it was the nurses who stood beside her family offering comfort, compassion, and care when it mattered most. Their kindness left an imprint on Sally’s heart and became the reason she knew she wanted to become a nurse to care for others the way they cared for her father.

Sally joined Indian Creek while she was still in high school, and this building quickly became more than a workplace — it became home. Through every stage of her education, the Indian Creek community stood beside her, supporting her schedule, believing in her dreams, and helping her grow into the outstanding nurse she is today. Sally stated, “What I love about Indian Creek is that we take care of each other. The people here become family, both patients and staff.” That feeling of family became especially real during one of the most personal chapters of her life. When Sally’s mother became ill and needed memory care, there was no question where she belonged.

At Indian Creek Healthcare Center, Sally isn’t just a nurse. She is a daughter, a caregiver, and a family member caring for families just like her own. Her story is a powerful reminder of why nursing matters and how compassion carries forward from one life to many others. During the recent Nurses Week and always, we are so grateful to Sally for her heart, her dedication, and the love she brings to every patient, every coworker, and every family she touches. Thank you, Sally. 💙

Congratulations to the newest Master of Science in Nursing graduates from the University of Rio Grande! 🎓👏

On May 9th, a cohort of 58 international students officially earned their graduate degrees, marking a major milestone in a journey that began when they first arrived in the United States in 2023. The students came from all over the world, including countries like Ghana, Kenya, India, Nigeria, Uganda, and Pakistan.

To make this achievement possible, CommuniCare supported each student with a full scholarship to fund their graduate studies. Now, as they transition from students to graduate nurses, Bridgeway is actively assisting them in pursuing permanent residency in the United States. CommuniCare remains committed to retaining these highly skilled professionals as they transition from students to graduate nurses within our family of companies. We are so proud of all their hard work. Congrats, grads! 💙
