CommuniCare Family of Companies

CommuniCare Family of Companies Founder and CEO Stephen L. Rosedale established the CommuniCare Family of Companies in 1984. that create a healing environment where a person can thrive.

As a young man, Steve worked in various healthcare environments and developed a passion for caring. He continued to study the art and science of aging at Brandeis University, where he sparked a close relationship with Professor Morrie Schwartz (of the famous book, “Tuesdays with Morrie”). A concept that struck a chord in his heart and has since remained vibrant is the concept of “therapeutic milieu.” This is defined as the impact of a holistic environment, comprised of people, clinical programs, physical environments, etc. Since then, Steve has been on a mission to build Caring Communities that cater to the unspoken needs of our guests and residents. A family-owned company, we’ve grown to become one of the nation’s largest providers of post-acute care, which includes skilled nursing rehabilitation centers, long-term care centers, assisted living communities, independent rehabilitation centers and long-term acute care hospitals (LTACH). Of primary importance to each and every one of our employees is our philosophy: Serving with Pride. We recognize that our mission is to reach out with our hearts and touch the lives of others. This recognition instills a great sense of purpose in the work we do each day. As a result, we take immense pride in our opportunity to always deliver the highest quality of care. We remind ourselves daily that we have to serve with pride and this energizes us anew, to give the gift of life to each and every guest and resident of the CommuniCare Family of Companies. Steve’s favorite book is "The Little Prince", and his favorite line from the book says it all: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”

Meet Margaret, one of our lovely residents at Summers Healthcare Center!

Margaret was born and raised in Fayetteville, WV! She is the oldest of her three siblings, including one brother and two sisters. She loved her mother’s cooking, especially when she made fried potatoes and onions for supper.

She shared that back then times were hard, but those hard times taught her a lot, like learning how to can. Canning is a particular skill she gained from her mother and grandmother.

With Halloween around the corner, Margaret also reflected on when her family would roast hotdogs and marshmallows during the cooler months. Then when it snowed, she absolutely despised her little red snowsuit she had to wear while sleigh riding. Even though she couldn’t move too well in it, she had a blast sledding down the hills of her homeplace.

We are so lucky to have Ms. Margaret in our Summers community and love learning about her life. Thank you for sharing, Margaret! 🩵

Meet Kenneth! ⭐ Kenneth, age 78, was admitted to Greenwood Healthcare Center following a recent hospitalization after a fall from bed at home. Upon admission, Kenneth needed assistance with standing, walking, and several daily activities.

By discharge, Kenneth made remarkable progress! His pain had decreased to 1/10, and he was able to perform daily tasks independently. He also progressed in speech therapy, allowing him to return home safely. We're so proud of your progress, Kenneth! 💙
