It’s that simple

The Supreme Court may have ruled yesterday that Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy violates the First Amendment, but no court can rewrite our ethics. While the decision may create legal uncertainty, it does not change the reality that conversion “therapy” is a harmful, discredited practice that violates the core values of social work and puts LGBTQ+ youth at risk. Let’s be clear: calling this “therapy” is itself misleading. This is not treatment. It is coercion, shame, and psychological harm packaged in clinical language that co-opts our practice as mental health professionals. Many Ohio cities have already recognized this and banned the practice because communities know what the evidence shows; this is abuse, not care. And while the Court chose to frame this as “speech,” licensed professionals in Ohio are still accountable to professional ethics, standards of care, and licensing board oversight. If a social worker engaged in this practice, it should absolutely be reported to the licensing board, and avenues of malpractice and consumer fraud claims are still available to anyone impact by this practice. The Supreme Court may have spoken on constitutionality, but it did not change what is ethical. It did not change what is evidence-based. And it certainly did not change our responsibility to protect LGBTQ+ youth from brainwashing, coercion, and harm.

Today, March 31st, is International Trans Day of Visibility.

In an era of immense difficulty for the community, it can be hard to remember that Trans Day of Visibility is as much about positivity as it is about awareness and resistance.

The annual awareness day, which takes place on 31 March every year, was founded by activist Rachel Crandall Crocker as an alternative to the comparatively bleak awareness holidays dedicated to trans people, such as Trans Day of Remembrance.

I don't love the word "trauma." Not because there's anything wrong with the word itself, but many people use it to infer a stark dividing line between experiences that "should" impact us for years, & those that "don't qualify."

As a trauma specialist, let me assure you: there are MANY experiences that profoundly impact people for DECADES, but which may be minimized or dismissed because they don't seem like they "should" be "traumatic."

This is one of the most brilliant seminars I’ve been in in a good while. Reproductive justice, let alone Black reproductive justice is a refreshing breath of fresh air of fellow activists. Inclusive. Well-informed. Collaborative. And so much . I needed “In the Weeds: Black Liberation Through Sexual Health” on a deep deep level.

Being alone doesn’t scare me. Chaos does.

Some people are terrified of solitude because when the room gets quiet… they have to sit with their own thoughts.

Me? Peace is my baseline.

So if I invite you into my space, my home, my energy, my life, understand something very clearly: You are a guest in my peace. And the moment you start bringing confusion, drama, stress, or emotional chaos into it ... You gotta go.

No debate. No long explanation. No second chances.

I fought too hard for my peace to let someone else destroy it.

Some people are afraid to be alone. I’m afraid of being around the wrong people.

I choose me, myself, & I every single time!

There’s been a lot of confusion circulating lately about where the medical community stands on gender-affirming care.

Earlier this year, reports suggested that the American Medical Association supported a statement from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons that diminished support for gender-affirming care.

That claim is not accurate.

The AMA has now clarified:
➡️ They did not endorse the ASPS statement
➡️ Their longstanding policy still recognizes gender-affirming care as medically necessary

This matters—because misinformation can create fear for families who are simply trying to care for their children with guidance from qualified medical professionals.

. Having a , or simply being different, is hard enough; especially as a child. But when you’re told within toxic environments (be it school, family, groups) that something is “wrong” with you, it sets a foundation of internal guilt, lowered self-esteem, and can develop into maladaptive complexes, issues with attachment, and diminished connection with those around them. Don’t set a child’s foundation with toxicity.

Let’s be real; it’s like this sometimes 😅. Don’t be afraid to practice employment . Under no circumstance do you sacrifice your mental health and wellbeing for a job.
