Today, we honor Korean American Day, marking the moment in 1903 when the first Korean immigrants arrived in the United States, landing in Hawaii. 🇰🇷🇺🇸
While we may not have many photos to capture the enjoyment, our celebration was rich in culture, conversation, and connection. Residents enjoyed Japchae (Korean glass noodles with vegetables) from Todamgol Restaurant, along with a variety of delicious side dishes and traditional pastries filled with flavorful bean paste.
We spent time learning about Korean history, the struggle for independence, and the many meaningful contributions Korean Americans have made to American culture. Several of our Korean residents generously shared their personal stories and the different paths that led them to this country.
It was a truly interesting, informative, and fulfilling experience that we were grateful to share together. 💙
