We had a wonderful Grandparents Day at Blue Bell Place! We loved the visits from the grandkids, and Albert, our young volunteer came by to entertain us with his gifted playing on the piano.

Marsha from MariGold, Horticultural Therapy always brings such delightful projects for the month! Yesterday we kicked off football season at Blue Bell Place; there was a sea of green, with everyone dressed from head to toe! Associates and residents joined in the fun and camaraderie. Today was Italian Day at Blue Bell Place. We enjoyed a fine Italian meal featuring chicken cutlet parmigiana, a fresh caprese salad, and a decadent Italian dessert: Italian Love Cake. We enjoyed seeing a variety of Italian cities on the big screen, and learning about each one. It turns out many of us have traveled to Italy and shared our diverse experiences. We also learned some phrases and Italian words. Lastly, we channeled our inner Mona Lisa! We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed the day! What’s your favorite Italian dish? We are so grateful to all our young volunteers! This summer we've had several student volunteers take time out of their precious summer break to share their time and talents with us. We can't thank you enough for all the fun we had together! They've played charades, painted nails, called Bingo, helped with cooking demos, led trivia and discussion groups, played beautiful piano music, and even hula-hooped! You all are amazing! We are grateful to them and their parents for making the time to brighten up our days!

Diane Pivar has always enjoyed painting and expressing herself through her artwork.

“Art is very therapeutic,” she said in an article published by MyChesCo. “You can focus on what you are doing instead of the stress from the outside world. It calms your mind and builds strength to tackle life’s challenges.”

It became more challenging to paint when her husband, Jeffrey, began experiencing signs of memory loss. Now a resident at our community, Jeffrey “is doing so much better and actually improving,” said Diane. This has allowed Diane to spend more meaningful time with Jeffrey and return to her studio, where she created two heartfelt gifts we’ll treasure forever.

Last week we enjoyed a sweet, impromptu outing to our neighbor, Tous Les Jours USA. We had such a great time! Eight of us ventured out for lunch, and we were glad we went! This delicious little bakery never disappoints! Some of us were camera shy, but all of us enjoyed!
