Mental Health Awareness Month Provider Spotlight! 💚

We would like to highlight another one of our dedicated mental health providers at United Hospital District — Heidi Schiltz, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Heidi supports those who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, mood changes, grief, life stressors and transitions, relationship challenges, substance abuse concerns, and symptoms associated with ADHD.

She is passionate about helping individuals grow, heal, and create meaningful change in their lives. She believes in tailoring care to each person’s unique needs and creating a safe, supportive environment where patients feel heard, validated, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

Using a variety of evidence-based approaches and mindfulness-based skills, Heidi works alongside her patients to support emotional well-being and build healthy coping strategies.

May is Stroke Awareness Month

Today, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, we’re taking a moment to highlight an important health reminder for women and families.

Stroke is a leading cause of serious disability and death—but many strokes are preventable and treatable when recognized early. Women are at a higher risk for stroke over their lifetime, and symptoms can sometimes look different or be overlooked.

Know the signs of stroke (F.A.S.T.):
Face drooping
Arm weakness
Speech difficulty
Time to call 911

Other warning signs can include sudden confusion, trouble seeing, dizziness, severe headache, or numbness on one side of the body.

At United Hospital District, we encourage everyone—especially women—to be aware of their risk and listen to their bodies. If you have concerns about stroke risk or symptoms, talk with your healthcare provider or schedule a visit to discuss them.

This Mother’s Day, we honor the strength of mothers, grandmothers, daughters, and caregivers—and encourage families to help protect the women they love by learning the signs of stroke.
