The Springfield trip was a success — and we have some special people to thank! 💛 A big thank you to the Friends & Family Association for their generous sponsorship. We’re proud to share that Blue Cap Intern Alicia Resendez was selected as Moraine Valley Community College's 2026 Intern of the Year! 🎉

Selected from a field of 72 interns placed with more than 50 companies, this is an incredible and well-earned honor!

Since joining our Development Team in January, Alicia has brought creativity, professionalism, and care to every project she’s touched. From supporting design and development initiatives to redesigning evacuation maps for all eight of Blue Cap's residential homes, her contributions have been thoughtful and important.

We’re also honored that Blue Cap was nominated for 2026 Internship Employer of the Year — recognition we’re proud to share as a team and a reflection of how much we value mentorship, life long learning, and community partnership.

Alicia, we truly couldn’t be prouder.

🌎Blue Cap turned Earth Day into Earth Week!

We embraced the outdoors in every way we could.

Participants potted seedlings for Blue Cap’s garden, scattered native wildflower seed bombs along the scenic Cal-Sag, and spent time outside soaking up the season.

Earth Day brought a picnic at Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve, filled with inclusive outdoor activities, and the simple joy of being together in nature.

The celebration carried into the weekend with participation in Blue Island's Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, showing care for the environment and the neighborhood we share.

Earth Week was a reminder that we can make caring for our environment and our community an everyday act.

Thank you to our wonderful Direct Support Professionals for helping our gatherings run smoothly and supporting everyone throughout the week, and to The City of Blue Island Illinois for helping make where we live a more welcoming and inclusive place for all our neighbors. 🌎💚
