EXPERIENCE JOY IN YOUR EVERYDAY ROUTINES. In his commencement speech to the UW-Madison Class of 2025, alum Jason Gay encouraged graduates to focus on living with purpose rather than fixating solely on goals. He emphasized kindness, optimism, and active listening as powerful ways to create meaningful lives. In a world full of conflict and misinformation, he urged graduates to be fixers, not complainers, and to bring positive energy to those around them. Gay also highlighted the value of teamwork, cooperation, and the unique joy found in sports—reminding graduates not to overlook joy, and to seek it in everyday routines, relationships, nature, and community.
